Review of Kassandra

Kassandra (1992–1993)

This needs a 2022 remake
20 July 2020
I think the best way to commemorate 30 years of this master piece would be to have a remake with some of the original actors plating different roles, of course.

If you have never watched this, you are missing out on some of the best dramas ever. This has nothing to envy other Hollywood shows. The production and direction are very good considering the year of its release.

I did some research and it seems this was filmed in a small town names Mucuchies (yes, the Mucuchie dogs come from there). This Venezuelan town is a short 40 minute drive to Merida, which is more like a city. This town (Mucuchies has an average weather of 10 C* degrees. So it was usually very cold when they filmed this and yet you dont see them wearing huge jackets or anything. I find that vert interesting.

The show is very unique and the background music they use is surreal. There is not one single thing I would change about the show. You will find in love with Coraima Torres (Andreina / Kassandra), I mean who wouldn't. 30 years later and she is still a queen, as beautiful as always.

One thing to keep in mind is that the audio quality is not the greatest, at least not on Youtube these days. So you will have to really turn up the volume to listen. If you don't speak spanish 100% you will have a hard time understanding what they say sometimes. Specially with the Romanies, they use unusual words.

I made the numbers, you will need about 115 hours to watch this show fully. The plot is so powerful it will take you away for the entire time you are watching. Keeping you focused on the show only. If you are going through a tough time and need to take your mind off of it, this Telenovela will help.

I also found on google Kassandra has been broadcasted in over 140 countries and in more than 60 languages / dialects which makes it a Guinness Record holder. I have no doubts this is the best Telenovela ever made. I mean this if you want a real authentic telenovela. Those new versions to attract younger crowds with a lot of comedy are great too (like Betty La Fea, Pedro el Escamoso, Mi gorda bella) but I would not put them in the same category as Kassandra. it is like comparing apples to oranges. I am sure without a doubt Betty La Fea deserves the number one spot for "funny telenovelas", it was also very innovative.

I would give this show 20 stars if I could. I hope to travel to that small town one day and learn more about the history of it.
