Mentor screened at the Satisfied Eye International Film Festival as part of a block of horror films but having watched it several days ago - and still returning to it - it's so much more than a simple thriller. Supported by an incredible performance by the lead actress, Mentor is a powerful reminder of the profound impact of peer pressure and the desire to conform and fit in, particularly at a young age. Stylishly directed with a script that effortlessly treads the fine line between social commentary and a slick genre film, it was one of the standout films of the festival among an incredibly strong field. Leaving much up to the imagination of the audience, I left the cinema wanting more, and I mean that in the best possible way.
