Agnee review :
Released in peak of Mithun da mania, Agnee was neither a hard core family drama nor a typical Prabhuji actioner. Directed by veteran J Om Prakash, it didnt set the box office on fire but nevertheless, settled in average category.
A twist to the epic Krishna - Kansa story, Anupam Kher played the evil mama to Mithun who usurps his property and renders him homeless as a child. Amrita Singh played Mithun da's love interest while Chunky Pandey was paired opposite Mandakini. A sub plot had Chunky- Manda getting caught by a junglee tribe and breaking in to a sensuous jungle dance there. Sanskari babuji Alok Nath hammed it up as the ever suffering father of Mithun.
Not too bad a film for the 80s but Agnee lacked the fire of a Mithunda entertainer to fully satisfy his fan club. J Om Prakash's direction was also strictly okey dokey.
