Sammy wasn't the greatest show of all time, but it was far from the worst. It has heart, style, its finger on the pulse of contemporary Hollywood, and the supporting cast lends itself greatly to mannerisms split between two characters by the same lead.
It didn't deserve to burn off after two episodes, it would've been more practical to sell the remainder to a network that would've welcomed it, as NBC had no interest in this show at that point. Had this run its course entirely on the network then fine, people are allowed to think what they want as they got the full experience.
You could've done far worse, and I can say that with confidence given the glut of low quality adult animation.
