I'm gonna try not to cry while writing this, because I often do when I try to explain it. This show can be very heartbreaking and sad at times.
Episode 1: "The Visitor" (Aired September 5th, 1997, (ALMOST 25 YEARS AGO THIS YEAR (2022)!) Plot: A Baby Gosling gets lost and stays with Kipper for a night. Before he can reunite with his family of geese, Kipper must teach him how to fly while experiencing the joys and frustrations of parenting.
This plot may sound simple and may not sound that sad on paper but believe me, when you see the actual episode, you'll be very surprised at how deep it is. The episode starts with Kipper letting a gosling in his house during a huge storm, which is already a little emotional. Then you have a montage of him playing around the house and causing some messes lol, and then there's the best part of all.... the ending. Oh My God, that beautiful and downright heartbreaking and emotional ending comes out of nowhere when you least expect it. The scene where Kipper gives the gosling a hug always warms my heart. And the scene where the gosling flies off into the gorgeously painted sky and Kipper saying goodbye as the shot pans out, always makes me cry. It is a huge reason as to what makes this one of the best shows I've ever seen. Very Few Preschool shows manage to carry out this much of an emotional impact. Very few example exist like for most people, Arthur, Sesame Street, or Mr Rogers. Kipper however managed to blow those 3 out of the water with the emotional impact "The Visitor" has on me and it's one episode that will always hold a special place in my heart. The ending will always be one of my favorite scenes in all of animation and media in general!
Episode 33: Tiger's Sled.
Tiger has a new sled, it's very fast but it crashes into a slide
Again, very Simple but that doesn't mean it's less good, in fact it's my favorite episode of the series. It's soooo funny! Tiger has always been my favorite character. The episode starts with Kipper wishing it would snow because it was supposed to snow. When it does snow all of a sudden, Tiger comes over to his house to invite him to go "sledging" (I guess that's the UK Term for Sledding). While at Big Hill, the 2 decide to sled down together, which backfires in the end because they go too fast and first hit Pig, then they hit a slide. The screams are so funny. It's also very upbeat with the music.
So yeah, I Adore this show with all my heart and this is why it's an underrated masterpiece.
