To be honest, when I was 11-year-old girl in Poland, I was desperately in love with Rusty Jedwab. I suppose, as at least a half of my classmates. But besides of this, watching the film now, after these all years, I think it is just a very good story about friendship and parental love. I always cry watching the scene, when soldiers are separating Peter from his father by force. And the scene in hospital - remember, it was the world in 1987: without Facebook and all this stuff. It is just very moving: not only for children. I have read that Canadian newspapers wrote, that the world depicted in the movie was unrealistic. But, believe me: for us, the children raised in a communist country,
it was a real trip to a wealthy, beautiful and colorful Canada. And I must say: good work!
