It Kept My Attention
21 January 2023
I saw this short at the CenFlo Film Festival in Florida. I stopped in to see another film in the same block and I'm glad that I stayed on. Up on the big screen, Derrick & Boyd presents a compelling story with female leads who are criminals. Having women in the lead parts is a nice plus. The film is well cast and I found the character of Rita Boyd to be that of a charming rascal. Her counterpart, Beatrice Derrick, is the more realistic of the two. Both of them are believable in their roles. There is comedic tension that exists between them and helps to move the story along. There are multiple locations, all of which suit the story. I can see this film doing well on the festival circuit.
