My review was written in December 1988 after watching the show on HBO video cassette.
The 1989 edition of Playboy's annual live-action version of its calendar (a print feature since 1958) is a no-frills, alluring portrait of a dozen beautiful models from the magazine.
Tape corresponds to the recently published wall calendar except for a substitution of Brandi Brandt as video's September model. Familiar format contributes basically music videos (four minutes each) to spotlight the gals, generally dancing around, writhing on a bed or sporting lacy gauze in front of a wind machine. It's the voyeur's visual equivalent to easy listening with music ranging from tock to dreamy classical pieces Highlights are dusky Rebecca Ferratti's flash dancing, Lynne Austin on water skis and in various other modes (accompanied by Donna Edmondson as guest pal), and statuesque India Allen amusing herself, directed by David Kellogg. Concentrated style wisely eschews the often boring biographical material or family histories provided in the earliest tapes in this series.
