Review of Qun mo

Qun mo (1948)
8/10
A example of group drama in early Mandarin films
5 March 2023
This is a rare example of group drama in early Mandarin films.

The body movements and lines of each character are full of personality, the lens scheduling is very reasonable, the lighting effect reflects the excellent level of black and white films, and the editing is very compact, which adds a lot of rate to the narrative rhythm.

A very complete and good movie on the whole.

There are several points: First, dirty words. Many characters speak dirty words without restraint, which is unimaginable in the current Chinese films, and this is the 1940s.

The second is Yunzhu Shangguan. Most of the characters she played were petite ladies. Here, a prostitute with low status but noble personality was performed and she did very well.
