If You Think It Can't Get Worse, Think Again

If Eddie Gribbon can win this game of golf against Sam Lufkin, his boss will get Lufkin's contract for the year. If he can't, Gribbon will lose his job. As it is, the audience loses ten minutes.

Golf comedies were invented almost soon soon as the movies, with Birt Acres directing one in 1896. By the time this one came out, almost every variation on golf humor had been used; as a non-golfer, I'm tempted to say that it been exhausted as a topic for comedy in 1896. Certainly, this poorly shot comedy adds nothing new to the repertoire, and clearly makes use of every cheap trick in the book, including a voice-over narration, to try to make the audience laugh.
