It's good but the first one was better

Warning: Spoilers
While I genuinely enjoyed this movie, it's not without its problems. Firstly, the plot takes a lot of mileage out of Branch having yet to tell Queen Poppy that he loves her. That ignores that in the first movie, when Princess Poppy is having her greatest moment of desperation and is ready to give up Branch helps her through empathy rather than being nauseatingly saccharine and then sings true colours to her and when he says "I see you're true colours shining through, I see your true colours and that's why I love you" he pauses, she looks at him, visibly realizes that he meant and continues the song. It seems that the very premise of this movie ignores that that happened.

Another thing which kind of bugs me about this one is how easily forgiven Queen Barb is at the end of the film. To be fair, the Bergens are fairly easily forgiven in the first movie but there 1) The Chef isn't, she's eaten by a giant carnivorous plant and 2) The Bergens were not themselves trolls but an entirely different species whereas Barb is herself a troll and 3) The Bergens believed themselves to be incapable of happiness if they didn't eat trolls and had to learn they were wrong. Queen Barb had no such equivalent excuse for seeking to destroy the other trolls' genres of music

That having been established, I do like this movie. First of all, the music is well-done which is essential in a movie like this. Secondly, I like how they showcased trolls from the supporting cast as having an important role and thirdly I like that this time it's Poppy who has to learn instead of Branch (even though I have some problems with the sheer extent of her naïveté in this film in relation to the first one.)

So it's definitely inferior to its predecessor but it's still pretty good
