Fascinating

That this series was using the Basque language was of real interest to me. I speak a few languages with varying degrees of fluency, but Basque is a complete closed book. Its sounds and cadences were riveting, nearly as much as the tightly-directed and well-acted story. The other thing that seemed true to life was that these small villages, whether coastal or not, close ranks and the Basque language seemed to emphasise that.

Nagore Aranburu playing Nerea Garcia held a good part - dogged, bewildered, frustrated and tenacious. Personal temptations came her way too, one of which she succumbed to at the end of the series. I'm glad this theme didn't take over the storyline.

This was a really intriguing look into one of Spain's subcultures. I loved the title and explanation of it. I enjoyed the series a great deal.
