"Tempi supplementari" speaks to people who have chosen a violent life (the author was born and raised in the Sanità district, at the time of the war between clans), draws alternative truths, does not judge but sentences those who have chosen what the street has given them taught: survival beyond feelings and emotion as a moment of weakness never to be shown. I have been following the director Corrado Ardone for some time. With "Sodom, the other side of Gomorrah" I laughed a lot and noticed his intelligent writing, with a humor that made me think. In America it did very well and won awards, then he released a short film on violence against women and even if the subject was difficult he managed to tell a drama of our times through a bitter smile. The short is called Se mi uccidi poi chi chi uccidi and you can also find it on youtube. With Tempi Supplementari, I think he has reached the right maturity, because he combines comedy with drama, laughter with tears of emotion, the ending is truly unexpected, it reminded me of a young David Linch. Surely his ideas are always brilliant and never trivial. I have seen that he is always followed by the same actors, it is clear that he has an efficient work group who follow him in all his adventures. I sincerely recommend this great little film, because it demonstrates that you don't need big budgets to make great films, but only great ideas, shot well. Even the photography impressed me a lot, it gave me a new experience. The dialogues stayed in my mind for days and I sometimes repeat them to friends: There are so many reasons to be angry at life, but you don't even have one to be angry all your life.
