As someone who is a sucker for WW2 resistance dramas, I enjoyed this film despite its tediously slow pace. This film might have been so much better. I would have thought that a World War II resistance film set in Hong Kong might have benefited more from shots of the marine cityscape and from a somewhat faster paced narrative. Nevertheless, I found this film engaging and charming. The film lacked the the drama, humour and excitement of other resistance films of the period such as Casablanca. Yet it still managed too keep my attention. I liked the quietly stated soundtrack music. Some of the boat scenes contained some interesting shots yet I couldn't help feeling that more shots could have been used to give up a better sense of location.
