What's that? I'm reviewing something less than 10 minutes long? Yes, the day has been busy and not very easy. But five minutes of pure Godzilla had my back; it really just felt like a fight scene taken from a movie and plopped down. No context, no backstory, and no dialogue. They just fight, and one of them wins the end.
I've been a bit sad at the idea of suitmation no longer being a thing in the Godzilla series, considering Final Wars is the most recent to do it and that was 2004. Don't get me wrong - the CGI creations of Godzilla have all looked good. Shin is probably my favorite, Minus One Godzilla looked good, and I even think MonsterVerse Godzilla looks good. But I love it when it's somebody in a suit; it's just so pure. And short films like this one - which forces Godzilla and Hedorah into a rematch 50 films on from Hedorah's first film (and the monster's last starring role).
The fight is over quickly here, so I wish it had been seven or eight minutes instead of about five. But I liked it, and the last few shots against a sunset or sunrise looked fantastic. Good use of sound... it all led to a good (and short) time for a Godzilla fan like myself.
