I read the book Serpentine by Thomas Thompson years ago. The book is riveting, hard to read because of the crimes of Sobhraj. I started rereading it recently and couldn't continue, somehow even more horrifying. Then, Netflix produced this series. It is excellent. I watched the series in its entirety, then a year later decided to watch again. Like with the book, the crimes are so horrifying, i couldn't continue watching. Not sure why each second exposure to the crimes of Sobhraj were more horrifying the second time viewing and reading, both the series and the book. Probably because i knew what was to come. I do recommend the Netflix series for those who haven't seen it, but it is not for the faint of heart. It is now my understanding that Sobhraj is free. Travesty of justice for the monster.
