Contrary to popular opinion I think this was the best ending to any series I have ever watched.
It brought closure to so many things. Dexter went out the way he ultimately wanted to. He saved Harrison. He knew he couldn't do it on his own. The letter he wrote to Hanna was very touching and very real.
This short series was perfect and did exactly what it was intended to do....put closure to the man, Dexter.
I wouldn't change a thing, the writers did indeed get it right.
Had Dexter survived and moved on I would have been greatly disappointed.
In the end, he had most everyone he loved killed. He knew it, it was his demon that he could not escape from. He could not escape from himself.

The original series was exceptional as well. The only thing I would have changed was the very last scene.....him in Oregon. Even though, it really showed who and what he truly was all about....himself.
One day I hope another series as Dexter comes along.
