Temple Tower (1930)
6/10
MacKenna is no Colman
11 August 2024
Bulldog Drummond is just not a captivating lead when played by Kenneth MacKenna. Ronald Colman was a much better fit with his versions in other films. The atmosphere in this film is nicely strange and mysterious owing to the dark and mysterious setting of Temple Tower. See if you can predict the first release of the trap door... However, the story is lacking an adept script. Marceline Day is actually fine as the female lead, but the star of this show is the depth of evil in the portrayal of the villain by Henry B Walthall. He can twist his face with the best of any evil cartoon character. Henry takes this film from a 5 to a 6 rating all on his own.
