- TriviaOriginally the studio had a "wait-and-see" policy for greenlighting this sequel depending on how the first movie did. However, they decided two weeks before the premier of the first movie to go ahead and greenlight The Scorch Trials anyway as the publicity and reviews were overwhelmingly good.
- GoofsWhen the Gladers are hung upside down over the pit, their hair and jackets hang down due to gravity. However, their shirts and T-shirts (which are not tucked into their waistbands) do not even though they are shown to be loose and bulky.
It's clear that the T-shirts are being held in place by stage tape to prevent them from exposing the actor's midriffs and possibly covering their faces.
- Alternate versionsThe UK release was cut, the distributor was advised that the film was likely to receive a 15 classification but that their preferred 12A classification could be obtained by making some changes. The distributor was advised to reduce moments of threat and 'horror' involving zombie-like characters, and to reduce the focus on injury in a scene in which a man is beaten for information. When the film was formally submitted, changes had been made and, consequently, the film was classified 12A.

Fun to watch
Lets face it. The Maze Runner films are not great. They are good, but not that good. While the film was fun to watch it was full of already seen scenes. Not really original. Director did a good job, not that bad. Screenplay could have been better. You expect to see some of the cool post-apocalyptic cities and landscapes, but you do not get enough of that. A lot of cliché moments in the film. Should have been a little shorter. Also there are some illogical decision that characters made in the film, cannot really get into it without spoiling something. They tried to give it a little twist but it was not that surprising. Irritated me a little bit. Acting was good. I actually liked how they edited it out, not bad. Cinematography is good. All in all a good, fun film to watch. Everyone knew it was not going to be a masterpiece.
Arguably maybe it even deserves 6/10. I was wondering what to give it, but because I like these kind of films it made my decision easier and I gave it 7/10.
