The music used in the closing credits was written and performed by Chris Mulkey, the actor who played the charecter of Joe.
The author of the original short story, Jack Ritchie, was a frequent contributor to Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magizene. Between 1959 and 1982, he was published 123 times in Hitchcock's periodical.
The hat that Joe (Chris Mulkey) retrieves from the closet had its filmic debut in Rambo, First Blood.
The Hank Williams song, Cold Cold Heart, used in the opening sequence was highly edited and rearranged by composer Brendan Biele. All the instruments were rerecorded, with the help of Seattle based guitarest and lap steel player, RL Heyer. This allowed the music bed to continue through the actor's dialogue without Hank's lyrics creating a distraction.
