From its well-written characters to its slice-of-life trope, Skip and Loafer is an appealing series. Especially when it comes to the representation of teen relationships.
As a popular seinen series, the manga was awarded Shogakukan. The series’ success extends to the anime as well, especially with its popularity. However, there’s a controversial backstory behind the series’ production.

The voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa’s approach to the anime was a bit contentious. This is especially true with her methods and techniques. As revealed in an interview, the actress’ method resonates with Mayumi Tanaka’s approach to One Piece. Safe to say, it did work out well in the end considering Tanaka’s relationship with the series.

After enthralling fans for over 25 years, Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is arguably the most renowned anime series, captivating fans worldwide through its epic tale of adventure and friendship. Despite the long list of 1000+ chapters and manga, Oda-sensei has yet to unveil several mysteries of the One Piece world, keeping fans eager for more.

While One Piece asks for a lot of commitment from viewers, in return it leaves them enchanted by Oda-sensei’s narrative and Luffy’s journey to become the King of the Pirates. Despite holding the record for the highest-selling manga series globally, the anime falls short in one aspect that may surprise many One Piece fans.
Interestingly, Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece doesn’t even rank among the Top 10 longest-running anime list and is surpassed by the likes of many iconic titles, which, to haters, make One Piece look inferior.

Classic series Doraemon is well known for its many futuristic gadgets, from the Anywhere Door to a toaster that helps you memorize information. For its latest collab, the series is teaming up with Anrealage: a fashion brand that, like Doraemon himself, combines future tech with everyday items. The result is a line of unique, unusual wearables reminiscent of the beloved character. Fashion designer Kunihiko Morinaga says the inspiration comes from the interpretation of "Sf" not as sci-fi or science fantasy, but "sukoshi fushigi" ("a little mysterious"). His goal was to create "everyday 22nd century clothes": something wearable and convenient, but with a little bit of weirdness baked in. That's definitely true of this blue-and-white button-down shirt. While it drapes nicely while worn, it turns spherical if you button it all the way up! Reminiscent of the outsized Chinese box office success once enjoyed by a certain genre of Hollywood movie – think “Expendables 3,” Pacific Rim” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” – some Japanese anime films are now earning more in China than they are in their native Japan.
Last year, “Suzume” (pictured above) earned $117 million in China, coming in ahead of the film’s $104 million total in Japan.
And this year, Oscar winner “The Boy and the Heron,” despite its late release in China, enjoyed Middle Kingdom gross revenues of $109 million, dwarfing that of Japan, where the film was received more tepidly and earned only $57 million.
The scale of the China theatrical market has occasionally thrown up other examples of outsized success — in 2016, “Dangal” earned $190 million in China, compared with its already huge $77 million in India; the same year “Bad Genius” earned $41 million in China, compared with its $3.3 million in its native Thailand; Luc Besson...

Like most 90s kids, if you have grown up enjoying the adventures of Doraemon and have taken a liking to the wonderful, imaginative, and futuristic worldview showcased in the series, there is a strong chance that you will love Netflix’s latest anime release, T P Bon. Created by the same creative genius duo, Fujiko Fujio, T P Bon not only bears similarities with Doraemon through the common Kodomo art style implemented in their visuals but also through their approach to disguise heavy themes through the bright, colorful lens of children’s fiction. With T P Bon, the treatment veers towards a more mature tone, as time travel shenanigans work as a scrutinizing mechanism, which raises tough-to-answer questions regarding human morality, virtues, and vices.
