I generally don't like found footage horror films, because they typically have no sensible plot-related reason for why a camera follows their every action, and the genre is full of poor writing and bad actors. This film for the most part gets around all that. The premise is there is a portion of the dark web devoted to hacking into camera and showing accidents and violence, and that the person who runs a portion of it called (wait for it) Terror Eyes is especially focused on this story because he is involved. Part of what we see is what he filmed, in addition to the footage by the soon-to-be victims testing out a new camera they got and the Terror Eyes fans he gets to stalk them to create more of a story. The weird trollish reviews saying there is no plot and heaping juvenile insults on this film are bizarre, because there's not only clearly a plot, it's also pretty easy to follow. In fact, if anything, the film actually has too much plot, with a couple of things adding nothing to the story line that should have just been cut out. What really stands out, though, is that the talent in the movie is shockingly good for this kind of film. The lead male portrays an immature youth who can't help but show bravado at people threatening him and just generally making everything worse. The actor is also a dancer and singer with quite a few things under his belt, so it seems kind of strange that they go to karaoke at one point and his character *doesn't* sing. If he had it might have gone a long way to help explain why everyone looks up to him when his character doesn't seem particularly crush-worthy, let alone for two women. Missed opportunity. The lead actress also seems legitimately fickle, like a lot of people are, and expresses it all realistically. The secondary actress is great, and has been a regular in several ongoing TV series, so it's strange to see her in this. Even the guy who plays an extremely annoying online influencer is, in real life, an online social media personality. How did they get all these kind of experienced people for what seems like an average found footage film? Maybe it had a short filming time and they all jumped on, maybe someone knows somebody, or maybe this one stood out a bit more than average films of its type. It does a great job showing the scary threats and slowly building doom of having violent stalkers after you, and it doesn't get diluted too much with some of the other silliness.
