A Deadly Invitation is a Mexican mystery thriller movie directed by José Manuel Cravioto. It stars Maribel Verdú, Stephanie Cayo, and Manolo Cardona. The film is based on the novel “Invitación a un Asesinato” by best-selling author Carmen Posadas.
The film follows Agatha, a true crime podcast host who is invited to a gathering at her sister’s, Olivia’s, luxurious yacht for a weekend getaway together with a group of her closest friends. The reason for the gathering is unknown to all. As the guests arrive on the yacht, tensions begin to rise culminating in… a murder.
A Deadly Invitation A Quick Review
If you are into Agatha Christie, and however many film and series adaptations of her novels have been produced over time, I recommend this movie.
It follows close to the exact same patterns, and production style as A Knives Out Mystery (2019); a contemporary multi-character murder mystery...

Netflix offers a diverse selection of G-rated movies and cartoons that can be enjoyed by the whole family, with some even receiving critical acclaim and awards. It is important for families to add these G-rated movies to their watchlist sooner rather than later, as movies are constantly leaving Netflix's library. From a Spanish superhero comedy to heartwarming documentaries and animated shorts, Netflix has a variety of entertaining and educational G movies.
It would be an understatement to say that Netflix has a large catalog of films and TV series on its platform, and while some of the best movies and shows on Netflix tend to be for adults, the streaming giant also has a wide selection of G movies and cartoons that younger viewers can watch and enjoy. Ranging from stop-motion animated adventures to live-action Netflix original action-adventure movies, there is a diverse number of films that can truly be enjoyed by the whole family.

Launched by “El Chapo” producer Camila Jiménez and its creator Silvana Aguirre, L.A.-based The Immigrant, in which Fremantle has a 25% stake, has hired Oscar-nominated filmmaker Javier Fesser to direct its upcoming Spanish series “Custodia Repartida” (“Shared Custody”), a dramatic comedy from María Mínguez (“Vivir dos veces”) and Juanjo Moscardó (“Amor en Polvo”).
The company recently expanded its Mexican team with the appointment of Claudia Valdez as director of physical production. Valdez brings more than two decades of experience from across film and television to The Immigrant and will be critical as the studio enters production on multiple television projects.
One such project, “Shared Custody,” is a dramatic comedy unraveling after the fallout of separation between two parents, and an examination of that increasingly common dynamic in the modern world. Many families cannot afford to live alone, because often those with money have little time and those who do have time frequently struggle financially.

Los Angeles-based Secuoya Studios is developing a new series version of “El Zorro” in collaboration with John Gertz – founder of Zorro Productions and a producer on “The Mask of Zorro” and “The Legend of Zorro” movies titles – along with former Sony execs Andy Kaplan and Jesús Torres and Miami-based Secuoya Studios exec Sergio Pizzolante. Secuoya Studios will serve as the series’ lead producer.
“This is one of the biggest IPs, not only in the Spanish-speaking territories, but the world,” said David Martínez, Secuoya director of fiction, adding that the new version will update the franchise’s characters with reference to modern times and include a “large female presence.” Scripts, by Spain’s Carlos Portela (“Velvet Collection”), are completed.
“El Zorro” marks the banner project at Secuoya Studios, which was introduced to investors at an online presentation Thursday hosted by James Costos, the company’s L.A-based president.

Launched by “El Chapo” producer Camila Jiménez and its creator Silvana Aguirre, L.A.-based The Immigrant is developing drama series with Guatemala’s Jayro Bustamante and Spain’s Javier Ruíz Caldera (“Superlópez”).
The news comes after The Immigrant made a large splash in October 2019 when Fremantle bought into the production house, acquiring a 25% stake, marking its first major investment in a Latinx company.
Jiménez has spent Covid-19 lockdown building talent relations across the Latinx community in U.S., Latin America and Spain. Development on the drama series with Bustamante and Ruíz Caldera are just some of the results.
Bustamante has made three features to date, which have established him as one of the most consistently acclaimed of Latin American arthouse auteurs. His first, 2015’s “Ixcanul,” described by Variety as a “powerful modern fable” about the clash of civilizations in a Mayan farming community, won the Alfred Bauer Prize at Berlin,...
