Featured review
Since it is unlikely the words "special award" and "Heroes Reborn" will ever appear in the same sentence, in this universe or any other, I wanted to take this opportunity to give out these special awards while the episode was fresh in my mind:
Smartest Career Move (ie, Avoiding the Reboot entirely) -- Hayden Panettiere.
Worst Reboot in the history of TV (Duh, a slam dunk).
Worst SFX in the finale of any TV series. ever (Double Duh).
Worst script writing (pick any episode at random).
Most ironic removal of key characters (in 3 instances, characters were killed by their loved ones -- someone call Guiness!).
Least empathetic characters in any series, ever (pick any character at random).
Most Motivational Series for Fans (motivated them to ask to have the show cancelled).
Most ironic use of animation (ie, the animation is better than the live action).
Most needless reboot (the original was great, Amazon has the DVDs).
Most Visible Career Fail (Tim Kring, for associating with this -- makes the film version of Last Airbender look like Oscar material, in comparison).
Worst use of the Time Paradox (makes Star Trek Voyager look like it was written by Stephen Hawking.)
Greatest Fan Abuse -- feel sorry for the fans kept trying to love the series, in spite of it all.
Most ironic ending -- because finally and irrevocably, it is OVER! Yea!
Most Circumspect Award Nominations -- to the various associations, who could not find even one category to nominate this series in.
Fan Most in Need of Re-Education -- the fellow who wrote me on the IMDb to reprimand my early reviews suggesting something had gone horribly wrong with this series.
**************************
ADDENDUM: April 2/16. There is a saying that you should not give advice you would not take yourself. In my reviews of this horrific reboot I have time and again suggested to viewers -- especially younger ones -- that they watch the original. So, I decided to bite the bullet and get the whole series (original) from Amazon myself. Halfway through the first season as we speak. Happy happy joy joy. Hard to believe the same person behind both. From the first few minutes of ep. 01, the original engages the viewer with great writing and empathetic characters. Seriously, give it a try.
