Captain America: Brave New World North America Box Office: 2nd Thursday Update(Photo Credit – YouTube)
The MCU movie is on its way to achieving a new and notable milestone at the North American box office. Captain America: Brave New World is experiencing weaker legs compared to other MCU movies but still better than a few of the past releases, including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It seems the audience is indeed feeling some superhero film fatigue, and if the content is not strong enough, it is hard for them to achieve extraordinary results.
However, in the case of Deadpool & Wolverine, the return of Hugh Jackman, his pairing with Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, the banter, and multiple cameos helped the film become a blockbuster. However, that is not applicable in the case of Captain America 4. The aerial fights are commendable, but the plot is messy and shallow. The climactic battle...

Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Box Office: Captain America Franchise Unleashes A New Milestone( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Captain America: Brave New World might be facing challenges in its box office run, but it has helped the franchise cross a significant milestone at the worldwide box office. The MCU movie is inching closer to the $300 million milestone at the worldwide box office. It will probably beat the global haul of The First Avenger and save itself from being the lowest-grossing Captain America movie. Keep scrolling for its latest achievement.
The first film in the franchise came out in 2011 featuring Chris Evans in the lead role. It showcased the origin story of the Marvel superhero. Anthony Mackie, as Sam Wilson, joined the team in the second film, The Winter Soldier. He was handed the Captain America shield by Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame. Anthony Mackie ranks Sebastian Stan as the least talented scene partner below Chris Evans and Danny Ramirez. He had his own reasons to rank his best buddy lower than the other two. Mackie jokingly mentioned how Stan has got everything now from awards glory to a new girlfriend.

Last week, the news broke that Marvel Studios has shelved TV shows revolving around Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. The biggest shocker was Richard Rider's long-awaited MCU debut being put on "pause," especially as we were hearing some exciting things about the show.
The change likely comes as a result of Marvel Television moving away from series that set the stage for movies. For example, The Marvels and Captain America: Brave New World underperforming has been blamed on them requiring people to have tuned into WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier beforehand.
With that in mind, a new approach makes sense.
Talking to Phase Hero, Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, broke his silence reports that Nova will no longer move forward and elaborated on what led to that happening.

Updated: A handful of titles this weekend are closing in on new benchmarks. They include Marvel/Disney’s Captain America: Brave New World which is nearing $300M global after the sophomore session, and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King which is expected to hit $700M with Monday, after 10 frames and a day.
And, continuing its record-breaking run, Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 is on the approach to $1.9B in the home market alone, after becoming the highest-grossing animated movie ever worldwide last week.
Meanwhile, overseas audiences are also mad about the girl as Universal/Working Title’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has topped $70M across its first two weekends. (More detail below.)
Turning back to Cap, the Anthony Mackie/Harrison Ford-starrer dropped 60% in its second international tour (-55% excluding China), and added $35.3M from 52 markets. The...

Captain America: Brave New World had the odds stacked against it this weekend. The movie's reviews have not been great and a B- CinemaScore (the lowest for any MCU movie) suggested it wouldn't have positive word of mouth on its side.
However, Deadline brings some good news today as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up is now on course for a $28.1 million second weekend. That's a drop of -68% from its Presidents' Day weekend debut and a big improvement over Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (-70%) and The Marvels (-78%).
While we're waiting on updated international numbers, Captain America: Brave New World appears to be losing steam both overseas and domestically.
As of now, it's sitting at around $218 million worldwide; that means it's already topped Marvel Studios' biggest flop, The Marvels. Can it reach that $300 million - $400 million range over the coming weeks? It won't be easy, and whatever happens,...

Captain America: Brave New World North America Box Office: 2nd Friday Update ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Captain America: Brave New World is experiencing a hard time at the box office. It has entered its second weekend but witnessed a sharp decline at the North American box office. With its underwhelming performance, Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s MCU movie might be brewing concern for Marvel Studios. Keep scrolling for the deets.
The film opened with strong numbers last week, beating the opening weekend of the first film in the franchise, Captain America: The First Avenger. It is now reportedly imitating the MCU’s Ant-Man 3 collection. CinemaScore reports an average grade of “B—” from audiences, the lowest for an MCU film to date. However, due to the mixed reviews, it is finding it challenging to maintain its box office momentum.

Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Box Office: Beats The Marvels (Photo Credit – Instagram)
2023’s The Marvels became the lowest-grossing film of the MCU because it mostly received negative reviews. Captain America: Brave New World has successfully avoided becoming the lowest-grossing MCU film by surpassing Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson’s movie. Keep scrolling for the deets.
For the unversed, the 2023 movie earned around $46.1 million on its opening weekend in the US and Canada, registering the weakest debut for an MCU movie. The record was previously held by The Incredible Hulk, released in 2008. It collected $84.5 million in North America and $121.63 million overseas. Therefore, the film’s worldwide collection is $206.13 million, which did not recover its estimated net expenditure of $307.3 million, according to Forbes. It is one of the most expensive MCU films ever.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters, but unfortunately, the film hasn’t received glowing reviews. If you go by Rotten Tomatoes, Brave New World has collected some of the worst reviews of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only slightly better than those received by Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
While speaking with Esquire, Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah was asked if he had a response to the negative reviews. “All I’ll say is that we were working very hard and are very passionate about the movie we made,” Onah said. “We told the story in a way that I feel very excited about and very satisfied with. Every single one of these movies [receives criticism]—and maybe because it was so out-there in terms of some of the conversation, people perceiving certain things, certainly—but I don’t think that is the...

Daredevil: Born Again was originally announced as an 18-episode TV series. Likely realising how ambitious a feat delivering that many episodes over more than 4 months would be, the hero's small screen return has since evolved into two 9-episode seasons.
Will that be it for this long-awaited Daredevil revival or is there more to come from the Man Without Fear? Talking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Dario Scardapane confirmed that, as things stand, seasons 1 and 2 of Daredevil: Born Again are essentially one big story.
"We've got some new stuff going on," he explained. "This season is really kind of Part 2 of season 1, so it allows us to go into bigger and different places."
Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum also chimed in to say, "100 percent it's a multi-season show. I don't know how many seasons it'll run. "
"This is really a question about Marvel television in general," he continued, "but I think it's...

Captain America: Brave New World will remain at #1 during its second weekend in theaters but, as feared, it's facing a pretty big drop. While that's not good news for the MCU movie, this is by no means a disaster.
As first reported by Deadline, current projections point to Captain America: Brave New World earning roughly $30+ million this weekend. Its biggest competition will be The Monkey, a new horror movie from Longlegs director Oz Perkins. That's eyeing a $17 million debut.
Back to Captain America: Brave New World, and even though $30 million is a 70% decline from its four-day Presidents' Day weekend opening, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up's three-day haul was $88 million. As a result, it's facing a weekend-to-weekend drop of around 65% which is better than both Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (-70%) and The Marvels (-78%).

The final numbers are in for Captain America: Brave New World's opening weekend over the four-day Presidents' Day holiday and, as expected, the latest Marvel Studios movie debuted with a mighty $100 million in North America.
While current estimates point to a four-day $192.4 million global bow, its three-day total was $180.9 million. That's right where the majority of analysts predicted it would land, meaning the movie neither exceeded nor fell below expectations.
Captain America: Brave New World has been named the #1 movie in the world (the MPA views it as such because it had a wide release) but didn't actually make the most money. In China, Ne Zha 2 earned a massive $279.6 million to bring its worldwide total to over $1.6 billion. So, technically, it opened at #2.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters and, while critics are divided on the latest MCU movie, it does appear to be receiving a far warmer response from fans and regular moviegoers.
While the blockbuster was clearly reworked through extensive reshoots, this is still a Marvel Studios title. That means it's full of Easter Eggs, references to the comic books and wider MCU, and cameos even the most die-hard fans might have missed while watching this one.
In this feature, we're breaking those down and highlighting everything from familiar facial hair to recycled convention photos and even the MCU debuts of a few very obscure characters.

Let's cut to the chase: "Captain America: Brave New World" is bad. The story is paper-thin, the action is repetitive and too reminiscent of previous "Captain America" movies, and the villain's plot is uninspired. The worst sin this movie commits is being safe and forgettable, having nothing to say despite plenty of opportunities to be topical.
The film follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he finds himself in the middle of an international incident where he must unravel a conspiracy to start an international war and discover the President's secrets before he unleashes a red monster on the world.
There is, however, one aspect of the film that's good: Harrison Ford's President Thaddeus Ross. Despite the trailers already spoiling the big, red, hulking surprise of the film, it doesn't diminish the fact that Ross is a complex and interesting character, the Red Hulk transformation is thrilling, and his fight scenes are well-executed,...

Captain America: Brave New World’s opening weekend verdict at the box office is out, and it has passed. The film exceeded the industry’s projections, scoring more than the predicted range. It has also beaten Fifty Shades of Grey’s opening weekend collection to achieve the notable feat for February releases. Keep scrolling for more.
The film, which features Anthony Mackie in the titular role, received mixed reviews from critics. Its CinemaScore rating is also worse than some of the other MCU movies, as it has gotten a B-. It was made on a reported budget of $180 million. On the other hand, Fifty Shades of Grey was the first film in the erotic franchise starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. It was released in 2015 and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

It goes without saying that Bucky Barnes is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most popular characters. Played by Sebastian Stan, Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes made his on-screen debut in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and fans instantly fell in love with Steve Rogers' loyal, funny, and handsome (very handsome) best friend. When he returned from the dead in 2014 sequel The Winter Soldier (as the titular antagonist), he instantly became an MCU legend. There was no going back after that.
Although Bucky is widely recognized as the former Winter Soldier, the fact that his time with the franchise began in 2011's The First Avenger makes Stan one of the longest-standing actors in the Marvel Studios franchise. There are clearly no plans on that changing in the foreseeable future, as the character is set to return in this year's Thunderbolts*.

Despite middling reviews from critics (51% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a B- CinemaScore from moviegoers, Captain America: Brave New World is exceeding expectations at the box office.
According to Deadline, the movie performed better than expected on Saturday with $27.5 million. Both Disney and rival studios predict a four-day opening weekend of $100 million and a global debut of $192.4 million (a couple of million above early estimates).
Disney dropped the ball with Captain America: Brave New World's release in the UK where the movie has been soundly beaten by Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The latest Marvel Studios title dropped on Wednesday in several countries but the UK wasn't one of them, robbing it of the chance to get the jump on the final instalment of that classic romcom franchise.
That's still an impressive global bow, of course, and back in North America, Captain America: Brave New World is eyeing a $88.5 million three-day haul.

Captain America: Brave New World doesn't feel like a Marvel movie.
That clearly is the intention, for the film doesn't feature the typical triumphant Marvel Studios opening fanfare. There is a "Marvel" and a "Studios" that flash up on the screen, along with the words Brave New World in a very uninteresting font. What's missing is the name of the title character.
The 35th Marvel Cinematic Universe movie masquerades as a political thriller and, for the most part, it's a convincing performance. The film doesn't feature a triumphant score (except maybe when its most necessary in the final act of the movie) and it doesn't rely on any of the McU's more light-hearted characters. What we have here is a serious movie complete with a compelling central conspiracy plot involving the President of the United States, who is now Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (now played by Harrison Ford).

Captain America: Brave New World China Box Office: Day 2 Update (Photo Credit – YouTube)
Anthony Mackie gets his first solo MCU movie, and Captain America: Brave New World is looking quite unpredictable in terms of its global opening. The film, despite scoring a strong opening day in China, dropped significantly on Saturday. The MCU movie’s projected opening collection has also gone down significantly. Keep scrolling for more.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has proliferated beyond its Infinity Saga years. Heroes have grown in strength and number while worlds, realities, galaxies, and universes have begun to crash in on each other. However, the 35th installment of the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World has still a long way to go as far as the Multiverse is concerned.

In the tail-end of Avengers: Endgame, the MCU established the existence of branched realities and alternate universes through events like the Time Heist and Phase Four projects. However, despite the set precedent of the existence of the Multiverse, there seems to be a gap in communication between the fans and the MCU.

The next installment of the MCU is finally upon us, which has garnered much anticipation over the last few months. Fans are not only excited to see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) lead his first new movie as Captain America after Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed the mantle, but to finally receive a follow-up to some interesting threads introduced way back in 2008 within The Incredible Hulk. Boasting a great cast with characters old and new, and the trailer hinting at offering something a little more akin to fan-favourite The Winter Soldier, Brave New World is still managing to entice cinema-goers despite the mixed reviews. After meeting with the newly elected U.S President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. With a strong storyline that takes things back to basics,...

This article contains spoilers for "Captain America: Brave New World."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in trouble. The past couple of years have seen a string of commercial and critical failures that have put the future of this cinematic experiment in peril. Worse yet, it seems every new Marvel project is met with apathy and disinterest. With the Multiverse Saga heading toward its conclusion, every movie counts, and sadly, "Captain America: Brave New World" is not the clear-cut solution to Marvel's problems. This is a safe, forgettable, entirely unpolitical movie with nothing to say and little to offer that "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" didn't already cover. We may never know how much damage the reshoots did to the movie or whether previous drafts were any better, but it's hard to imagine things being worse than what is hitting theaters.

Bucky Barnes is a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Making his debut all the way back in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, actor Sebastian Stan is one of the franchise's longest-standing performers, and that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.
He hasn't been as prominent in the Multiverse Saga, but he did feature quite heavily in one of the first titles in this chapter of the MCU, co-headlining Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Bucky team up with Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie). Of course, Sam has since gone on to take up the shield of Steve Rogers as the next Captain America, while Bucky joins a new team in Thunderbolts*, which has a release date of May 2, 2025.
With Captain America: Brave New World now out in the world, it's only natural that fans have been wondering if the film references Sam's new best friend.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

“Captain America: Brave New World” is finally upon us, properly introducing the MCU’s new Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). But if you’re here, you might be wondering: what happened to Chris Evans?
The fourth installment of the Cap franchise sees Sam Wilson fully in his groove as the hero, using both the shield and his trusty Falcon wings to help him in battle. After all, he’s not actually a super soldier like Steve Rogers was. Sam is just a normal guy, stepping into a super role.
And really, there are a couple of pieces to answer why that is. But worry not, it’s nothing scandalous. The change is simply the natural evolution of the character, and happened over the course of two earlier MCU projects.

Anthony Mackie once had a very different career in mind before stepping into the Marvel spotlight. Long before Captain America 4 positioned him as one of the smartest Avengers alive, he had his sights set on something completely unrelated to superhero stardom.

While January very rarely sees blockbuster releases, February can sometimes become a month to capitalize on people going to the movies for Valentine’s Day. The first big movie of the year has dropped and Captain America: Brave New World has finally hit screens after a long delay. The film seemingly has an uphill battle since there have been a lot of stories about how the film was plagued by many rounds of reshoots, while there’s been a noticeable lack of enthusiasm around Sam Wilson’s big-screen debut as Cap. However, the trailers suggest that Brave New World aims to emulate the grit of one of the highest-rated entries, The Winter Soldier.

In Avengers: Endgame's final moments, we learned that Steve Rogers had remained in the past for his happy ending with Peggy Carter. It was a touching way to end his story arc, but what became of "Old Man Rogers" after he handed the mantle to Sam Wilson?
Marvel Studios has never provided a definitive answer to that question. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stopped short of revealing Steve's fate, though Spider-Man: No Way Home transforming the Statue of Liberty into a tribute felt like a strong hint that he must have died.
Unfortunately, Captain America: Brave New World offers no additional insights or clarifications. Steve is referenced on a handful of occasions, typically in the past tense, but that was also the case in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Marvel Studios appears to be keeping its options open when it comes to the original Captain America's status in the MCU.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Premiere: What To Remember Ahead Of The First Marvel Film Of 2025
Captain America: Brave New Soldier follows in the footsteps of three installments for Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and four Avengers films when Rogers recruited Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and more to combat threats to the world and universe.
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Steve Rogers passed on the torch — in this case his shield with a star in the center and patriotic stripes around the frame — to his righthand man The Falcon, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Wilson, in turn, recruited a new Falcon — Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez). For those wondering what to watch ahead of the release of the latest MCU film, most of the necessary context and what to remember can be found in three main Marvel projects — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), Eternals (2021) and The Incredible Hulk (2018).

As with every MCU movie, rumours swirled about Captain America: Brave New World leading up to its release. As time passed, those were primarily focused on the movie's reshoots, though The Hulk and She-Hulk are just two of the characters who have been rumoured to appear at one time or another.
We've already told you that Amadeus Cho's scenes were scrapped and beyond Harrison Ford's Red Hulk, no additional Hulks make an appearance in the course of Sam Wilson's first solo adventure.
Liv Tyler shows up for one scene as Betty Ross (she was first spotted on set shooting a funeral scene which isn't in the movie) and, beyond her, there's only one major cameo: Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.
Perhaps this was to be expected after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but he and Sam reunite shortly after the battle over Celestial Island leaves Joaquín Torres badly injured.

Captain America: Brave New World not only serves as a follow-up to Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but also addresses unresolved plot beats from Eternals and The Incredible Hulk.
It's a unique use of the movie that, for the most part, serves it well. However, this is Marvel Studios and the MCU is a franchise that always has one eye on the future.
With that in mind, you're probably wondering whether Captain America: Brave New World does anything specifically to set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday and the long-rumoured World War Hulk movie.
The answer is yes and no.
A falling out with President Ross puts a swift end to the Commander in Chief's hope Sam Wilson will assemble a team who will report to him. However, Cap later realises that the world does need The Avengers and his first recruit is Joaquin Torres, a.k.

With Captain America: Brave New World returning the iconic shield to theaters, audiences are excited for a proper MCU movie. In 2024, they only got Deadpool & Wolverine, which was more of a love letter to the Fox Marvel universe than forward moving piece of the larger story. We’ve also looped in the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well.

Marvel has not always been successful when its supporting characters have stepped up to lead roles: even in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s charisma and chemistry were hamstrung by a messy script and shifting priorities. The good news is that, in his first official outing as Captain America, Mackie has a far stronger and more focused story to work with.
A standard opening mission runs into serious opposition from ruthless new bad guy Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito). But the real trouble begins when Sam Wilson, wannabe new Falcon Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) and their friend Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), a recipient of the super-soldier serum who was betrayed and imprisoned by the US government for decades, attend a White House reception in recognition of their heroism. There, a genuinely shocking attempt on the President’s life leaves Bradley back in prison and Wilson desperate to save his name.

Captain America: Brave New World is a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, The Incredible Hulk, and even, to a much lesser extent, Eternals. For fans who have complained about a lack of connectivity in the Multiverse Saga, there's plenty of that to be found here...for better or worse. Serving so many previous stories robs the movie of a clear identity, and the messiness of it all often overshadows an otherwise action-packed, exciting first solo adventure for the McU's new Captain America, Sam Wilson.
The story? It's what you've seen in the trailers. After President Ross is attacked, Sam must investigate a conspiracy that could result in another world war. There are some interesting moments along the way - despite The Leader being sorely underutilized, his dynamic with Ross is by far the most compelling subplot - but it's a relatively straightforward political thriller which...

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest installment, Captain America: Brave New World, featuring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and the legendary Harison Ford as Red Hulk, has faced a barrage of polarized reviews. At the same time, critics have acknowledged Wilson and Ford’s performances as the high-point of the movie, as well as its screenplay and direction drawing questions.
The superhero cum conspiracy theory film’s review embargo was lifted after long-standing speculation on Wednesday, thanks to early releases in several overseas markets. The full review embargo for Marvel Studios' latest Multiverse Saga adventure, Captain America: Brave New World, lifted earlier today, and the first wave of verdicts were not especially positive.
Though some were won over by Anthony Mackie's (Sam Wilson) big-screen debut under the Captain America mantle, the movie came in for quite a bit of criticism from the majority of press (and influencers) who managed to catch an early screening.
Brave New World hit Rotten Tomatoes with 47%, and while the score has risen slightly since more reviews were added, it's not by very much.
Based on 101 reviews, the latest MCU film currently sits at 52%.
If the score stays below 60%, Captain America: Brave New World will become just the third Marvel Studios movie to be hit with the dreaded green splat on the review aggregator, after Eternals (47%) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (46%).
It's difficult to tell if negative reviews...

The social media reactions for Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World were decidedly mixed, which did not bode well for the full reviews being particularly glowing.
Initial reactions always tend to be more positive overall, and sure enough, the majority of critics have expressed their disappointment with Sam Wilson's first big-screen outing as the Sentinel of Liberty.
Though the movie doesn't sound like a complete disaster by any means, quite a few of the reviews share the same criticisms: A convoluted, messy plot; some choppy action sequences; an underwhelming villain, and a reliance on well-worn story structure with few surprises.
On the more positive side of things, Anthony Mackie is hailed as a worthy successor to Chris Evans' Og Cap, and it sounds like the entire cast acquit themselves admirably (the great Harrison Ford pops up as another highlight).

Captain America: Brave New World delivers a gripping, politically charged thriller that manages to successfully establish Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. While it doesn’t quite reach the heights of The Winter Soldier, the film offers a refreshing and grounded take on the superhero genre, as it artfully balances espionage, character-driven drama, and high-stakes action set pieces.
Picking up after the momentous events of Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed his iconic shield to Wilson (Anthony Mackie), Brave New World plunges Sam into a complex and politically charged world. With Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), now President of the United States, Sam finds himself embroiled in an international incident that hits close to home. The situation involves his friend and mentor, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), a super-soldier who endured decades of imprisonment and brutal experimentation at the hands of the state.

Captain America: Brave New World Review: Sam Wilson's First Solo Movie Is A Safe, Forgettable Rehash
Hulk is now red. Cap's new outfit is blue. Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe back? I think I'll leave that up to you. If you're still reading this review after that horrific Valentine's Day-flavored lede, your friendly neighborhood critic -- nay, your country -- thanks you. It's only slightly better treatment than what Anthony Mackie's title character receives in his official passing of the torch in "Captain America: Brave New World," a movie that never seems to appreciate the magnitude of the occasion. Maybe there's good reason for that. After all, MCU acolytes know that this was already beaten to the punch by its small-screen predecessor "Falcon and the Winter Soldier," which explored what it truly means for an imperfect man to step into the goody two shoes of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Adding insult to injury, the state of the overall franchise has worsened considerably in the years...

The return of Captain America to the big screen marks an exciting new chapter for the MCU. Coming after the massive hit that was Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel is looking to replant its roots with one of its most dependable franchises. Captain America: Brave New World arrives with Anthony Mackie officially taking up the shield for a full movie. While Brave New World covers much of the same ground as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, solid action and heartfelt storytelling help it rise above mediocrity. However, yet again, Marvel struggles with CGI, and questionable editing makes the two-hour flick feel much longer than it should.

On your left! Before Anthony Mackie leads the latest star-spangled adventure for Marvel Studios, Captain America: Brave New World, we’re looking back at the film that introduced the masses to Sam Wilson and gave Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers his best cinematic experience, Captain America: The Winter Solider. As the ninth film in Marvel’s cinematic universe and a sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Solider brings superhero cinema to another level for a political action-thriller unlike anything in the studio’s history before its 2014 release. Which begs the question: What the fuck happened to Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
Work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier began before Marvel released The First Avenger, with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penning the screenplay. Multiple directors approached the high-profile sequel, including The Bourne Ultimatum director George Nolfi and F. Gary Gray, known for directing Ice...

After a lengthy, bumpy road, Anthony Mackie takes center stage as the new Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World, which is finally hitting screens this week. The movie went into production in March of 2023, with filming lasting through June. But in December of ’23, another screenwriter was brought onto the project to write new material for reshoots, and those reshoots seemed to be quite substantial, lasting from May 2024 through November.
With all the changes to the film, how did the final product come out? The reactions have hit social media. Our own Editor-in-Chief, Chris Bumbray, reacted to Brave New World, saying the latest Marvel film is “mediocre, with a few good moments.”
Our critic @cbumbray just saw #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld – his verdict? Very mediocre, with a few good moments. Very patched together and dull – will not be the movie to reinvigorate the MCU.
