The TV drama was produced to celebrate Tsinghua University's 100th anniversary. Screenwriter Yuan Zhong is a Tsinghua graduate.
The show mixes real and fictitious characters. Winston Chao's character is a fictional university president, whereas other characters like Mei Yiqi, Phyllis Lin Whei-yin and Liang Sicheng are real.
