While it was under development the show was titled "Frankenstein". When FOX picked the show up to series it was titled "The Frankenstein Code". In August of 2015 FOX announced that the show had officially been re-named "Looking Glass".
Mary Goodwin is most likely named after Frankenstein author Mary Shelley, or Mary Godwin, as she was named before she was married.

Any Arizonian familiar with Sheriff Joe Arpaio will recognize the "old" version of Sheriff Pritchard and his backstory as taken right out of Sheriff Joe's history. It couldn't be more obvious - he was investigated for corruption and is now, in 2020, running for county sheriff again at age 88.
