The future Portland filmmakers conceived this project as middle schoolers, and over the next two years, while Hillebrecht was attending Cleveland High School and Parker was at Benson Polytechnic, they shot the absurd action-comedy flick with the help of friends as cast and crew.
"Leadfinger" received its premiere at Portland's Hollywood Theatre during Thanksgiving week 2004, in an event hosted by documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, who had just released Super Size Me (2004). The Hollywood screened the film again on Dec. 21, 2014 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its release.
Bo Parker and Paul Parker are the parents of the filmmaker Sean Parker, and have been performing folk-rock and jazz musicians since 1973, sometimes as a duo and sometimes as members of Group du Jour.
