References the original Karate Kid film with William Zabka (who played Johnny) as both a police officer and the voice of Apollo the dog owned by Michael Kove's (John Kreese - Johnny's despicable Sensei) dog trainer character, Vernon. Much of the dialogue between them and other characters owes a nod and a wink to the Karate Kid.
