At the end of the 1994 film "Star Trek: Generations," the tried-and-true U.S.S. Enterprise-d crash-landed into Veridian III after a run-in with a sneaky Klingon vessel. The ship was damaged beyond repair, and the crew walked away, completely unsentimental about the ship's destruction. They were merely happy to be alive. In the 1996 follow-up film, "Star Trek: First Contact," the same crew was gathered on board the all-new U.S.S. Enterprise-e, a Sovereign-class vessel that was a bit smaller, but faster and much better armed. The crew stayed on board the Enterprise-e through the events of 2002's "Star Trek: Nemesis," the fourth and final film to star the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" characters.
The Enterprise-e was also severely damaged at the end of "Star Trek: Nemesis," although it seemed that this time, it could be repaired. After the events of "Nemesis,...

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel could have the potential solution for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it navigates a challenging landscape marked by dwindling audience reception and uncertainty. With the exit of Jonathan Majors from his role as Kang the Conqueror, a planned overarching villain, Marvel Studios faces the daunting task of redefining its narrative trajectory.

However, amidst these challenges, there is a glimmer of hope found in a comic arc revolving around the Kree warrior, where Vox Supreme abducts her and assigns her the task of eliminating the Avengers within a tight deadline of twenty-four hours. It could potentially serve as the beacon of redemption for the MCU, offering a fresh thematic direction and revitalizing the studio’s faltering legacy, along with putting the Marvel superhero upfront among Avengers.

Fremantle has taken a minority stake in independent developer Artists, Writers & Artisans Inc.
The company co-led an investment round with James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems alongside new capital from long-term backers of Awa and a “number of strategic individual investors with expertise in production, finance, sports, human rights and technology.” In addition to Lupa Systems, other Awa backers include Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sister.
Awa Studios, Awa’s film and TV arm helmed by Hollywood veteran Zach Studin, will benefit from Fremantle’s strategic input and investment, while also “unlocking the specialist expertise of the global content powerhouse, its infrastructure and its renowned international distribution footprint,” the companies said in a joint release on Tuesday.

New Delhi, Aug 26 (Ians) Twitter has announced to bring podcasts on its platform, integrating them as part of its newly redesigned Spaces Tab for audio creators.
The reimagined Spaces Tab, including the addition of podcasts, will now be visible to a group of English-speaking audience on iOS and Android, Twitter said in a statement late on Thursday.
“We know that some discussions need more than 280 characters, and bringing people closer to the ideas, content, and creators they know and love is core to Twitter no matter where the conversations take place,” said the company.
The redesign introduces personalised hubs that group audio content together by specific themes like news, music, sports and more.
The redesign introduces personalised hubs for users called “Stations”.
“Integrating podcasts into Spaces, where audio conversations happen on Twitter, is another way we’re continuing to invest in audio creators,” Twitter said.

Does Janelle James (“Abbott Elementary”) have a better chance of winning the Emmy for Best Comedy Supporting Actress than Gold Derby’s racetrack odds may suggest? She’s currently third place behind Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”) and Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”), but I think our awards pundits are greatly underestimating James’ bravura performance as Principal Ava Coleman on ABC’s mockumentary series about a group of Philadelphia teachers working at one of the worst public schools in the country. As Alison Herman raves in The Ringer, “Janelle James is the breakout as Ava, the deliciously incompetent principal.” Emmy voters, take notice.
Created by Quinta Brunson, “Abbott Elementary” has been a huge hit for broadcast television and it received seven Emmy nominations, including Best Comedy Series. Four of the actors from the show were nominated: Brunson for Best Comedy Actress, Tyler James Williams for Best Comedy Supporting Actor, and James and Sheryl Lee Ralph...
