As per multiple reports, the Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home; Avengers: Endgame) has landed the lead role in Christopher Nolan's next epic movie, which is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2025, with an eye on a prime Summer 2026 release date.
The fan-favorite actor was reportedly at the top of Nolan's wish list for this project and will now co-star with Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason Bourne; Ford v Ferrari), who is set to reunite with Nolan for the third time in his career, after the sci-fi thriller Interstellar and last year's Best Picture winner Oppenheimer.
Plot details on Nolan's latest film are being kept under wraps, but the film is rumored to be an action film and The Hollywood Reporter claims the setting is not present day. However, whether the film is set in the past or in the future remains a mystery.

The Amazon horror anthology “Them” is building out its main cast.
Variety has learned exclusively that seven new cast members have been added to the first season of the series, which is titled “Them: Covenant.” Shahadi Wright Joseph, Alison Pill, Ryan Kwanten, Melody Hurd, Javier Botet, and Percy Hynes White have all been cast as series regulars, while Derek Phillips has been cast in a recurring role. They join previously announced leads Deborah Ayorinde and Ashley Thomas.
“Them: Covenant” is set in 1953 and centers on Henry and Lucky Emory (Ayorinde and Thomas), who decide to move their family from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood. The family’s home on a tree-lined, seemingly idyllic street becomes ground zero where malevolent forces both real and supernatural threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.
Joseph had a breakout year in 2019, starring in both Jordan Peele’s “Us” and the remake of “The Lion King.

C. Michael Norton: When Paintings Awake David&Schweitzer Contemporary, Brooklyn April 14, 2017 - May 7, 2017
There was a time, over a century ago, when the idea of a purely abstract painting, one which referenced only the means of its creation, was a far-off goal, a seemingly unattainable dream. In the following decades this idea was tested, tried, worked, and re-worked until the project engendered many and various permutations. Post-modern, appropriational, deconstructed -- the list of approaches to this idea is legion; yet there endures some compulsion, some drive that seems hardwired, to create paintings of pure visuality. Just when we think we have come to the end of this story we find new characters waiting in the wings, new gladiators wanting into the arena. In C. Michael Norton’s current exhibit at David&Schweitzer Contemporary we see that this project still has viability. Indeed, Norton seems to open new fields of exploration.

As the year winds down to a close, so does the Year in Marvel. “Captain America: Civil War” and “Doctor Strange” may have been received more of a mixed reaction critically, but were both blockbuster smashes, and now Marvel is looking towards next summer to premiere their latest films, including “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the second reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise. While an exclusive clip from the film was shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, there has yet to be a full trailer for the film. Now, Marvel announced that the first trailer will premiere on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” tomorrow night, but before that, they’ve dropped a teaser to whet the appetites of fans everywhere. Watch the found footage teaser below featuring Peter Parker (Tom Holland) trying out his new flying suit.

Following a father and his sons as they venture into the woods on a day trip that turns dangerous, one of the indie surprises of the summer was Rob Connolly‘s Edge of Winter, starring Joel Kinnaman and Tom Holland. We’re pleased to exclusively premiere a new clip from the drama ahead of its DVD release, which depicts an intense conversation between the leads.
We said in our review, “The bracing tension of Rob Connelly’s Edge of Winter hinges on a powerful portrait of a father who compulsively believes his self-worth to be inextricably bound to his sons. As the film unfolds, this man’s expressions of “love” for his children begin to metamorphose in unsettling then monstrous ways, resulting in a descent into madness reminiscent of The Shining in the way the ostensibly unassailable fiber of familial love is threatened by violent insanity in the patriarch.”

Since his debut as Peter Parker and Spider-Man earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War, actor Tom Holland has completely associated with his superhero role. A lot of that is because he's been shooting and promoting next year's Spider-Man: Homecoming all summer. But he's actually got other movies out this year, including the already released drama Edge of Winter. There's also James Gray's latest, The Lost City of Z, which is premiering at the New York Film Festival next month and due in theaters in 2017, plus a movie titled Pilgrimage that could also arrive before Holland's full outing as Spidey in July. One more much bigger movie he was secrely a part of comes out in December: J.A. Bayona's highly...

After one of the best openings of the summer, Texas western “Hell or High Water” could become one of the strongest specialized releases of 2016. This bank robbery and pursuit thriller debuted at Cannes and scored among the best reviews of the year. CBS Films and Lionsgate opted to take the easier commercial route rather than chase awards via the standard September festival rollout.
Late summer has yielded a spate of arthouse successes including strong holdovers “Café Society” and “Indignation.”

The bracing tension of Rob Connelly’s Edge of Winter hinges on a powerful portrait of a father who compulsively believes his self-worth to be inextricably bound to his sons. As the film unfolds, this man’s expressions of “love” for his children begin to metamorphose in unsettling then monstrous ways, resulting in a descent into madness reminiscent of The Shining in the way the ostensibly unassailable fiber of familial love is threatened by violent insanity in the patriarch. Kubrick’s film found horror in the darkest reaches of the creative mind, but in some ways, the psychological source of terror in Edge of Winter is scarier because it channels the more universally experienced phenomenon of the bond between parent and child. Though fundamentally a beautiful thing, this bond can turn poisonous in cases where parents tie their identities too much to their kids and grow possessive as a result.

Relationships between family members — particularly those between fathers and sons — have a way of settling into certain rhythms that often grow into ruts. They petrify, they become inflexible, and it can feel as though attempts to thaw them out only tend to exacerbate whatever estrangement was causing the problem in the first place. It’s unconditional love as a slow-motion car crash, and it’s something that Rob Connolly’s “Edge of Winter” understands in its bones, even if — like so many people who’ve been in a similar position — the film is woefully incapable of expressing itself when it matters most.
But Joel Kinnaman definitely deserves an A for effort. The recent “Suicide Squad” survivor anchors this solemn dramatic thriller as Elliot Baker, a burly and bearded middle-aged divorcé who lives in a one-bedroom apartment that he shares with a large shotgun and an even larger variety of flannel shirts.

In the taut wilderness thriller Edge of Winter, Joel Kinnaman plays an unemployed, single dad with seething personal issues and more than a bit of a mean streak. It's another complex character in an increasingly long line of layered performances by Kinnaman, who always manages to bring humanity to his roles, no matter how flawed the characters may be. After his breakout role in the Swedish crime thriller Easy Money (aka Snabba Cash), Kinnaman came to widespread attention for his portrayal of detective Holder in AMC's The Killing. Now, like many actors these days, he seems comfortable sliding between Hollywood tentpoles like Robocop and Suicide Squad, independent productions like Edge of Winter and even television with roles on House of Cards and the streaming service's upcoming cyberpunk show...

While the concept of ‘white men running around an isolated location and threatening each other with guns’ has been re-hashed to the point of tedium, the first trailer for Edge Of Winter suggests there might be something worthwhile contained within. The feature length debut of writer-director Rob Connolly – scripting here with newcomer Kyle Mann – seems to focus heavily on character and suspicion, instead of the stereotypical growling masculinity we are used to seeing.
“Recently divorced and laid off from his job, Elliot Baker (Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad; Run All Night) is desperate to spend more time bonding with his sons, Bradley (Tom Holland, Captain America: Civil War) and Caleb (Percy Hynes White, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb). Before he swung into the Spider-Man suit, Tom Holland found some time to lead an independent drama alongside Joel Kinnaman. Edge of Winter, the directorial debut from Rob Connolly, follows the two as father and son as they venture into the woods on a day trip that turns dangerous.
