Taylor Swift paid a visit to pal and American Idol alum Todrick Hall on Wednesday as he starred in Broadway’s Kinky Boots in New York City.

Of course, no Thanksgiving Eve is complete without tons of photos with friends, and the 26-year-old singer posed for some hilarious shots with Hall still in full costume as Lola, a drag queen who turns the life of a shoemaker upside down when she helps him create incredible high-heeled boots. Swift also snapped photos with the rest of the cast while at the Al Hirschfeld Theater.

Starring in a Broadway production, eight shows a week, is no easy task, let alone having to sing and dance in full drag and sky-high heels.

But Todrick Hall is clearly up for the challenge when he steps into those iconic shoes as Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway beginning Tuesday -- a role first made famous by Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor in the 2005 British film and later by Billy Porter, who won a Tony Award for his turn as a drag queen who helps a struggling factory owner by creating a line of sturdy stilettos.

It’s the gig of a lifetime for Hall, who got his start on the Great White Way before moving to Los Angeles to pursue YouTube.

Nicole Sullivan, who starred on the original MADtv from 1995 to 2001, and Will Sasso (1997–2002) will guest-star in the new series’ premiere on July 26 (9/8c), TVLine has learned exclusively. Bobby Lee (2001–2009) is also confirmed to appear in an upcoming episode.

Hot Docs has established the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund with a $1m gift from the Rogers Foundation.

The grant follows a $4m gift from the Rogers Foundation to purchase the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, the century-old theatre in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood that Hot Docs has operated, managed and programmed for the past four years.

Named after the late philanthropist and president and CEO of Rogers Communications, the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund will provide financial support to Canadian documentarians.

“Documentaries provide an urgently needed reflection of our society – warts and all,” said Hot Docs president Chris McDonald. “The Rogers Foundation’s generous support for doc makers recognises the depth of talent in this country, and provides them critical resources to tell their stories.”

It's probably a dream of many actors and filmmakers who take to popular video sharing platforms like YouTube to create content that (hopefully) goes viral, as they build an audience over time, and eventually have enough leverage to ink deals with TV networks that will see their online content make the leap from the web to television. It was a flash mob set inside of a Target that earned Todrick Hall the approval of Beyonce and put him on the map back in 2011, but it was a different flash mob altogether that helped score him his new MTV series. For one of the initial pitch meetings, Hall recruited his friends and collaborators to put on a surprise song and dance performance for executive producers Brian Graden and Danny Rose. Set to an original song called “Put Me on TV,” the flash mob is what sold the execs on the idea that eventually became Todrick’s reality show premiering Monday.

Viewers who tuned into MTV’s Video Music Awards on August 30th may have noticed several appearances from Todrick Hall, a YouTube superstar known for his elaborately-choreographed music videos. As companies like Virgin America can attest, Hall is in general a strong creative partner for brands, but his appearances at VMAs served a greater purpose. They acted as promotions for Todrick, his upcoming TV show, which will air its first episode on July 31st at 10 Pm Est on MTV.

Todrick, first announced last October, will follow Hall behind-the-scenes as he works with his team of dancers, singers, actors, and crew members to create memorable musical hits. The first video in the spotlight, as revealed in an MTV sneak peek, will be “Who Let The Freaks Out?,” which we can only assume will marry the 2000 Baha Men “Who Let The Dogs Out?” to the sort of urban embellishments for which Hall is known.

Todrick Hall is coming to the small screen, and his TV show looks like it will be a lot of fun. MTV has shared a trailer for Todrick, an upcoming series that will follow its titular YouTube star as he works on his extravagant, genre-bending music videos.

YouTube star Todrick Hall is crossing over into mainstream television with his new MTV series. In the first trailer for “Todrick” premiering August 31, Hall enlists the help of his friends to put together elaborate video shoots that showcase his talents as a singer, dancer, director and choreographer. Among those who make an appearance in the video are fellow YouTube personality GloZell, pop singer Aubrey O’Day and “Don Jon” star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Hall’s YouTube channel, featuring the performer’s music videos, behind-the-scenes clips and traditional YouTube-style vlogs, boasts more than 1.6 million subscribers and 145 million views. Todrick Hall has no plans to leave YouTube anytime soon. The digital star told reporters during the Television Critics Association summer press tour he won’t “come off” YouTube just because he has his upcoming show Todrick for MTV in the works.

According to Deadline, Hall, who appeared on season nine of American Idol back in 2010, told reporters the reason he didn’t make it on that show was because he was too afraid to be himself. Hall assumed the best singer would win, but the show’s executives told him, “It’s not a talent competition, it’s a television show and people have to fall in love with you as a person.”
