I am Dutch and I am so not into Dutch movies/series. The last Dutch movie I saw was 2 decades ago but still I gave it a try as I never saw a Dutch movie about a Dutch environmental disaster.
What struck me the most was that this serie is so on point on the incapabilities of the Dutch government in light of a national disaster. Covid19 has showed that in real life.
No, it ain't a Hollywood movie with CGI, nor a British movie, Bollywood movie or any other major international movie production powerhouse. It's Dutch, create your expectations with that in mind and nothing more and you will be pleasantly suprised.

A disaster movie with trauma, family drama and political leverage makes this mini-series a great watch. It is a fictitious story, but after having seen it, it made this reviewer look up what actual delta plan development is taking place in the Netherlands and parts of Belgium.
The story is not far fetched and people's behavior is spot on in crises of this nature. A well made product without spending millions on production costs made this series look and feel like the real thing!

I have now seen this series again and again I am impressed. Very good and realistic script and personalities, good actors. I do not understand the low reviews here. The Dutch are not good at appreciating their own high-quality film products, I guess...
This miniseries really surprised me! The accuracy of the cultures in Holland and Belgium, the dialects, the 'opinions' of the 'different' people against one and other were pictured as they really are over here! I was in for just the disaster story, but the personal stories were all so realistic, relatable and very interesting. No big heroes, no super bad guys, just normal people as they would act in real life. Like someone who committed a crime, was not beeing used as an antagonist, it was not the black and white 2d character like we are used to from hollywood, it had real depth. 3D characters that weren't cliché, really special. The 'relationships' (good, bad, tolerable, intolerable) between characters makes this series special. The ending was perfect and made sense for all storylines. I am very impressed, especially because there were no political opinions beeing forced on the viewers. Bravo!

This Dutch mini-series is much better than the reviews suggest. I found it to be a very realistic drama, considering the scenario of dikes collapsing and the country flooding, which could happen since the Netherlands is below sea level.
Watching this series gives you a different perspective on refugees. We often perceive refugees as something distant from our lives, but it only takes one disaster to turn us into refugees ourselves.
I've seen some complaints about the acting being bad, but throughout the entire series, I wasn't able to notice any such moments.
Especially for a Dutch series, I truly believe this one is worth watching. However, I might be biased since I'm from here.

They could have done much better with the budget and the story it has. First of all, it's not realistic at all, with the main problem the scripts and acting. It all looks fake, the acting is also not convincing. The subject of the series is at least interesting what will happen if the dikes brake, but the movie about the zeeland flood is much better.
