Loosely based on the Manson family murders in the late-1960's.
In a December 2017 roundup of the year's movies, critic Mark Kermode named this not only the worst film released in 2017 but the worst he had seen in several years, calling it "nasty, duplicitous, morally bankrupt and dramatically inept... and I hope to never have to mention or think about it ever again."
Is unofficially set within The Conjuring Universe. The character of Detective Clarkin played by Eric Ladin appears in both this film and Annabelle (2014).
Second John R. Leonetti film to be inspired by the Manson family murders. The opening sequence of Annabelle (2014) recreated a fictional version of the murders. It is also his second film with a pregnant protagonist after the aforementioned film.
