Up next from Sinister, The Black Phone and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is The Gorge for Skydance and Apple Original Films, and Vanity Fair shares a sneak peek today.
Derrickson explains the behind-the-scenes shot to Vanity Fair, “For one set piece, we had a WWII Willys Jeep pulled up the side of a rock wall while under attack. Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy did most of their own stunts while attached to safety wires.”
Check out the wild behind-the-scenes photo below and read on for more information.
In the movie, “Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy play elite snipers – one American, the other Lithuanian – stationed in watchtowers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge located in a faraway land whose exact location they’re not even allowed to know. Former Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch said there was “no excuse, no justification” for lying about a cancer diagnosis — and much more — in a statement shared on social media ahead of the premiere of a new docuseries about the scandal.
Finch infamously lied about having a rare kind of bone cancer called chondrosarcoma, and a 2014 essay for Elle about her “diagnosis” led to her getting a job as a writer on Grey’s. While working on the show, she pretended to undergo rounds of chemotherapy, shaving her head and claiming...

They say the truth will set you free, but in the case of Elisabeth Finch, it seems to have handed her a one-way ticket straight into the lion’s den. The docuseries, Anatomy of Lies, now streaming on Peacock, pulls back the curtain on a saga that’s as jaw-dropping as it is eyebrow-raising.
Drawing inspiration from a 2022 Vanity Fair article by Evgenia Peretz, this three-part series dishes out a smorgasbord of revelations that will have you questioning your own perceptions of honesty, particularly in Tinseltown.

Finch isn’t just your run-of-the-mill TV writer; she’s a notable figure with credits on hit shows like True Blood and Grey’s Anatomy. However, her career took a nosedive when she became entangled in a web of controversy surrounding her personal and medical claims, ultimately leading to her departure from Grey’s Anatomy in 2022.

There was once a time when it was completely unheard of for a movie star like Harrison Ford to become a series regular on a half-hour TV comedy. The closest we ever came to a Harrison Ford sitcom in the ‘90s was the time the Full House gang briefly attended Disney World’s Indiana Jones stunt show.

But now, Ford is starring in the Apple TV+ show Shrinking, which is about therapists, not laundry or swimming instructors, along with Jason Segel and Jessica Williams. Andrew Garfield first played Peter Parker in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. Two years later, the actor reprised the role for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, only for Sony Pictures to pull the rug out from under him by scrapping two sequels and a Sinister Six spin-off.
Even when the movies themselves let him down, it was clear Garfield loved Spider-Man but the odds of him ever returning to the role seemed slim. Then, Spider-Man: No Way Home changed everything.
In the Marvel Studios blockbuster, Garfield shared the screen with the McU's Spider-Man, Tom Holland, and their predecessor, Tobey Maguire.
Talking to Vanity Fair as part of the site's latest "Test How Well You Know Each Other" video, Garfield - who was being quizzed alongside his We Live in Time co-star Florence Pugh - was asked to name his favourite big screen Spidey.

Much has been made of the incestuous portrayal of the Menendez brothers in “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” But the actors behind the widely discussed Netflix original want viewers to know this element of the series isn’t necessarily based on fact.
“To be honest with you, I don’t remember reading any of that in my research. So if he did suggest that, it was a suggestion as it is at this dinner party where he talks for 20 pages,” Nathan Lane told TheWrap of Vanity Fair reporter Dominick Dunne.
During the dinner party in question, Dunne (Lane) entertains his guests with an onslaught of questions and theories about the case, questioning why the brothers didn’t bring up their alleged abuse sooner.

In February, Natalie Portman finalized her divorce from her husband, Benjamin Millepied. The couple, who share two children, remain friendly after their split. Their union lasted longer than most Hollywood marriage. Just how long were Portman and Millepied wed?

Dan Schneider ruled the 90s and early 2000s television; producing and directing one hit show after another. Schneider’s shows like, The Amanda Show, together with sitcoms Kenan & Kel, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, and Victorious gave the industry some of its biggest names.
However, Schneider’s golden era went downhill very quickly when many stars stepped out during the MeToo moment. It is not lost on the masses that many have stayed tight-lipped on the matter. The most prominent name on that list is Ariana Grande’s.
Dan Schneider (Image via YouTube)
Playing the role of Cat Valentine on the popular Nickelodeon show Victorious, it is highly probable that Grande might have witnessed something untoward if she did not have that happen to her. Hence, her silence on the matter has always been strange. Fans have all sorts of theories and guesses for why she might have stayed mum.

This year, like many before, Vanity Fair threw the largest and most extravagant after-party. The many groups of A-list actors, Grammy Award-winning singers, and cultural icons would make your eyes pop. Here are some of the most exciting:

Oscar week is finally here! Ask anyone who has been in the thick of awards season and they’ll likely let out a huge sigh followed by exasperated admission that this has been one of the most hectic runs in recent memory. The condensed calendar, forced by last year’s dual strikes, could translate to more lively bashes, however, as there’s light at the end of the tunnel with Sunday’s Oscars. That can only mean that champagne is currently popping at A-list bashes across Los Angeles, and The Hollywood Reporter is on the scene everywhere from Vanity Fair and Elton John to MPTF’s Night Before. See below for the roundup of all the red carpet action.

We just learned so much about Disney’s classic movie Frozen!
Believe it or not, the original blockbuster premiered in theaters 10 years ago. In honor of the special anniversary, Vanity Fair got stars including Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff together to look back on the start of the successful franchise.
In the process, we learned a lot about how the final movie we know and love differed from the original plot. It featured different actresses reading for Elsa and Anna (the characters played by Idina and Kristen) and a very different plot.
We also learned that Frozen was not the first Disney movie either Idina or Kristen auditioned for. Interestingly, they were both in the running for the same part in another hit from the House of Mouse.

"I think 'Twilight' could be huge." Those were the words that were once said to be uttered by Paramount's former co-president of production Karen Rosenfelt, who helped turn the YA novel into a movie. While the movie ultimately wouldn't be made at Paramount, it turns out she was more right than anyone could have possibly predicted. In the end, Paramount's loss would turn into Summit Entertainment's ridiculous gain as the movie based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling book would kick off not just a billion-dollar franchise, but an entire blockbuster YA craze.
It's easy to take for granted now, but the saga of Bella and Edward — which is now ingrained in popular culture — did not reek of success at the outset.

What would "Frasier" be without its supporting cast? Well, now we know. The "Frasier" revival has finally hit Paramount+ with only Kelsey Grammer returning, and the result is something that's neither disappointing nor remarkable. The original sitcom ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004, and featured a cast of beloved characters that helped ground the often insufferably pompous Frasier Crane as he went about trying to build a new life for himself in Seattle.
Whether it was John Mahoney as Frasier's blue collar cop father, Martin, or Peri Gilpin as his straight-talking producer, Roz, the titular shrink always had people around him that helped to highlight his own pretentiousness when he most needed it. David Hyde Pierce as Frasier's Brother Niles would often encourage the ego-driven pomposity, but much like star Kelsey Grammer, the actor brought such a likable quality to the role that Niles remained as endearing as everyone else in the show.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle prequel-era "Star Wars" storytelling has always had to deal with is that it has a fixed outcome. At worst, it's led to stuff like "Obi-Wan Kenobi," which ends with Obi-Wan just sort of ... awkwardly letting Darth Vader go after defeating him in combat because the plot said so. However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, you have Ahsoka Tano, a character who's successfully cheated death more often than a protagonist in a "Final Destination" film, yet never in a way that strains credulity or feels unearned. Even so, it's difficult to recall a time when "Star Wars" fans weren't predicting her imminent demise.
In point of fact, from the moment a wide-eyed Ahsoka showed up proclaiming herself Anakin Skywalker's new Padawan in the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" film, she's always seemed to have a target on her back. During Vanity Fair's 2020 oral history about the character,...

“Superman: Legacy” writer-director and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is expanding the new DC universe with three new actors joining the cast: Nathan Fillion (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”) will play Guy Gardner, one of the figures known as Green Lantern; Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) will play Hawkgirl; and Edi Gathegi (“X-Men: First Class”) will play Mister Terrific.
Gunn cast David Corenswet (“Hollywood”) as the titular Man of Steel two weeks ago, alongside “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
At a press presentation of the new DC Studios slate in January, producer and DC co-chief Peter Safran said the film will focus “on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

According to the magazine, the football player’s $11.25 million per year base salary makes him only the 54th highest-paid in the league.
“My managers and agents love to tell me how underpaid I am,” he says. “Any time I talk about wanting more money, they’re just like, ‘Why don’t you go to the Chiefs and ask them?’”

Due to the NFL’s salary cap, the Chiefs have actually parted ways with a number of key players in recent years, who have often gone on to bigger paydays at other teams.

As the legal battles continue between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a new Vanity Fair exposé is diving deeper into the contentious former couple’s showdown over Miraval, their estate in the south of France and its successful namesake wines.
The couple purchased the property in May 2008, just before the birth of their twins, Knox and Vivienne. It was the site of their wedding in 2014, ahead of which Pitt gifted Jolie 10 percent of his stake in the property and winemaking ventures, making them 50-50 partners.
“Miraval was a love letter to his wife and his children, providing a beautiful life for Angelina and the kids and shielding them from the intense pressures of celebrity,” said Frank Pollaro, a furniture designer who helped jumpstart Pitt’s interest in winemaking, according to the article.
However, as their relationship soured beyond repair in the last few years, the battle over Miraval has gotten personal and ugly.

I've always wondered how movie and TV productions pull off scenes with chest compressions. I've taken quite a few first aid courses in my day, and one of the first things students learn about giving CPR is that you have to push down hard. It takes a lot of force to mimic the blood flow of a heartbeat, and if done right — as "Better Call Saul" star Bob Odenkirk has mentioned when talking about his harrowing 2021 heart attack — it can break a person's ribs. Or, if you're in the medical fairy-tale world of "9-1-1: Lone Star," it can apparently break a person's whole frozen chest as it did in a gross and darkly funny clip that recently went viral.
The bottom line is that chest compressions are no joke, and the team behind HBO's hit show "Succession" apparently found a creative way to show them on screen while keeping actors safe in a recent episode.

Barry‘s final season kicks off with its titular hitman behind bars, and everybody else is feeling pretty trapped, too.
Sunday’s Season 4 premiere picks up with Barry getting locked up and using his one phone call to call Gene and ask: “Are you mad at me? Because I love you.” All Gene will say back is, “I gotcha.” Sally flies home to her hometown of Joplin and has a hyperventilating breakdown when she sees the news about Barry’s arrest — and that he killed Janice Moss while she was with him. (Her mom is unfazed, though. She’s clearly seen Sally hyperventilate before.

Shooting night scenes during the day is common in the entertainment industry. While many films and TV shows feature scenes at night, filming at night can be expensive and time-consuming. Therefore, filmmakers often use various techniques to simulate the look of nighttime during the day.
Unfortunately, not all actors can handle this challenging task, especially those with light-colored eyes. In a recent interview, Amanda Seyfried revealed shooting Mamma Mia! night scenes was difficult during the day.

Marvel fans hoping “Secret Invasion” would storm this year’s Emmy Awards race received some disappointment this week when it was revealed the limited series will debut on June 21, outside the 2023 eligibility window. There’s a scene in Clueless that finds Alicia Silverstone’s Cher fielding a surprise phone call from her father, Mel Horowitz, played by the late and great Dan Hedaya, who wants her home immediately. “I expect you to walk in this door in 20 minutes,” he demands, a tall order considering Cher is a party in the Valley and far from home in the 90210. “Everywhere in L.A. takes 20 minutes.”

At only 30 years old, Selena Gomez has done so much that it’s almost difficult to keep up. She’s been in the spotlight for two decades as an actor, singer, and executive producer. To say that she has come a long way is putting it lightly. While she got her start with humble beginnings, as her popularity increased, Gomez became a household name. There were rules to follow, however. As it turns out, Disney policed the young star’s speech — among other things.

The Academy Awards aren't just a ceremony where movie stars and filmmakers get little gold statues that honor their work. Over the vast 94-year history of the Oscars, the Academy Awards have taken on a rarefied air. They're a huge annual event that celebrates an industry that gives people entertainment, inspiration, and hope. Those statues that say things like "Best Picture" have become Hollywood's most coveted items, and symbols of greatness within a powerful, influential art form.
Not only that, but the Academy Awards drive so much of the conversation about cinema, with Oscar buzz dominating publications and periodicals for the last several months of each year, and the first several months of the next year. By the time the ceremony finally takes place and the Oscars are handed out, film festivals like Sundance have already got the buzz rolling for the next year's Academy Awards, and the process starts all over again.

Ezra Miller reportedly demanded Susan Sarandon “pay tribute” at their altar after Miller wasn’t invited to Sarandon’s recent dinner party.

There’s a pervasive question repeatedly asked through “House of Hammer”: How did Hollywood’s Golden Boy seemingly turn into a pariah overnight?
Unfortunately, this three-part Discovery+ docuseries has little new to say on its subject — or the themes of power and abuse — because we’ve seen this narrative play out many times before. Hell, even just this week actor Shia Labeouf, accused of abusive behavior by an ex-lover, embarked on a redemption tour in the hopes of reshaping his own narrative. Bad behavior from Hollywood’s It boys didn’t start or end with the “Call Me By Your Name” star.

“Inventing Anna” is accused now of inventing too much, according to a defamation lawsuit filed against Netflix.
The Emmy-nominated series stars Julia Garner as convicted fraudster Anna “Delvey” Sorokin, who conned elite Manhattan into believing she was an international heiress. Kevin Feige knew exactly when and who Captain America lost his virginity to, according to She-Hulk showrunner Jessica Gao.
In the debut episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, cousins Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) get into an ongoing discussion ripped straight from the MCU fandom: Is Steve Rogers, the first Avenger and now former Captain America, a virgin?
While Jennifer excitedly makes the case that due to his various superhero obligations pre- and post-freeze, he likely did not have time to be intimate with anyone, Bruce initially declines to discuss the private life of his friend and colleague. But with Jennifer wearing him down, a trusted Bruce eventually blurts out, “Steve Rogers is not a virgin. He lost his virginity to a girl in 1943 on the Uso tour.”

“House of the Dragon” has the gargantuan — and unenviable — task of living up to the original series it’s based off of: the wildly popular, Emmy-winning phenomenon “Game of Thrones.”
Reviews of the series, the embargo for which broke Friday, offer both overtly mixed and highly congratulatory takes. Some prominent outlets praise the show’s scope, modernized dynamics and skilled performers while others critique its world-building efforts.

The New York Times had a mixed take, writing that “the signs” of the original series are there while the “spirit is weak.” Ultimately, the spinoff “doesn’t translate into engaging drama, however. There’s a lot of sitting around tables and talking about the troubles of the kingdom, which would be fine in moderation.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and editor Kevin Riley are threatening the producers and filmmakers of Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” over its accusations of “malicious fabrications” in the film, according to a legal demand sent Monday that was obtained by TheWrap.
The letter from the law offices of Lavely & Singer accused the filmmakers as acting “recklessly” and “engaging in constitutional malice” due to the film’s portrayal of the newspaper and AJC reporter Kathy Scruggs (as played by Olivia Wilde). The paper demands that the filmmakers issue a public statement that acknowledges they took dramatic and artistic licenses with the story, and that a prominent disclaimer is added to the film.
“We’re simply asking that the producers issue a statement acknowledging that some events were imagined for dramatic purposes, and that artistic license and dramatization were used in the film’s portrayal of events and characters,” Riley said in a statement to TheWrap.
