Warden Dr. Kempers intends to fire therapist Nora Meindl as her generally-misbehaving charges seem to systematically insult him grossly. Then Russian mob goon Ivan takes another prisoner hostage by knife, so he dares her to prove she can handle such a violent crisis. It works, and the detainees demand her acceptance of the warden's offer to stay on.

Fat convict Manni is scared to death, being unable to repay his debt to bully giant Ivan's Russin mob after someone stole his savings from jail labor and the mate'' donations. The jail therapist brings in her personal hero Martin Semmelrogge, who swears by empowerment trough Maori macho warrior attitude, but ignores their real problems. Cellmate Erdem advise improving his physical condition, a hopeless task, but sneaky Alexander discretely thinks up a manipulative ruse.

Erdem is shocked when bully guard Schröder shows in his new cellmate, a bossy giant transsexual. A conniving battle ensues of bribery and blackmail, key to which proves Schröder's illiteracy.

Alexander Vontrab is confident about his chances at the upcoming parole hearing, until the dragon judge arrives, in a lunching mood, and overhears his obscenities about her. rather then trusting their sympathetic prison therapist, whose favorable please in all extant cases discredit her anyway, Alexander's mates hope to boost his confidence, but he's out of cokes, so Erdem, who is frustrated by a kinsman's disloyalty, scores moonshine from the Russian cons, but its effect proves disastrously excessive.

Warden Dr. Kempers wants to help his political protector push trough a plan to triple cell population. Therefore he instructs the therapist, who can't refuse anything as she is hired on trial basis, to stage a field experiment proving it would not harm the convicts. She tricks the friends by claiming it's a personal scientific experiment, while the prison has some construction maintenance done, and bribes them with visits and other favors, which the warden didn't back up. Slick Manni does a better bribery-job then cocky Erdem running for prison population spokesman, but the Russians may support a madman instead. The decisive vote must come from their third buddy Alexander Vontrab, but he's preoccupied with the terrifying prospect of imminent release. Attempts to prolong his term by atypical misbehavior fail, but he can't resist counseling from the foxy therapist, which gets mixed-up with her private claustrophobia experiment.
