Although the movie has an urban feel it was actually shot in the Tampa, Florida area. The producer and director wanted the movie to look like it was shot in a large urban city.
Mitchell's house scenes are actually three different locations. The location scouts had trouble finding the right location and ended up having to shoot at various ones to make the scene work.
This was both Hilton Robert's and Priscella Henriquezes feature film debut.
In reference to the film's title..."Charlie" is slang for cocaine. Thus, "King Charles" = King Cocaine
