Have you ever watched a “John Wick” movie and thought to yourself, “I wonder if this would be even better if it were a little more lurid, a hell of a lot dumber, and its soundtrack had roughly 9,000 times as much flash-microwaved cheese rock?” Let’s just assume you have. Well, good news! Netflix — whose original content often feels like a response to a rhetorical question no human being has ever thought to ask — has you covered and then some with “Demon City,” a fun Japanese action film that adds exactly nothing to the “retired hitman seeks revenge” sub-genre and has a decent time doing it.

Anime characters come in many forms and personalities and we find all of them to be interesting and captivating. Some more than the others, perhaps. For instance, we have ‘Cowardly characters’ in Shonen anime that are often used to create impact in a scene or an event.
The crybaby of Demon Slayer, Zenitsu. [Credit: Ufotable]
This is because usually the protagonist is courageous and fearless. The main character has a lot of growth, so he cannot be seen cowering behind someone else. But when we see a main character who is calm and composed, we see no reason to fear ourselves. Why worry? The protagonist is so calm he’ll figure it out.
That is where the coward archetype characters come in. They are in a scene to emphasize the level and extent of the threat. By giving a sense of realistic fear, they represent a perspective the viewers can empathize with.

Dragon Ball franchise has had many installments, and not all of them were the work of Akira Toriyama. Even though these works were not canon and were only there to engage the fans and stir up interest, there were some things that the fans loved a lot.
Broly received the most changes in the franchise | Credits: Toei Animation
Broly is one of Dragon Ball‘s most iconic characters, and he was originally meant to be part of a spin-off tale about the Saiyan heritage. The fans loved Broly so much that he was incorporated into most of the Dragon Ball games, including Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Xenoverse.
Broly even became canon in Dragon Ball Super through Dragon Ball Super: Broly, a 2018 movie. But his place in the franchise has always been a matter of discussion. He never seemed to be included in anything important and it felt like the creators were trying to desperately avoid Broly.

What if the Rulers in Solo Leveling aren’t actually the heroes we think they are? What if they’re the real masterminds behind the Monarchs’ downfall? This might sound crazy but considering that the Rulers always seem to be one step ahead of the Monarchs, seeing what they’ll do and then countering with ease, makes one doubt their true intentions.

It’s certainly a possibility that they orchestrated the entire sequence of events leading to the destruction of the Monarchs and the reset of time for their own benefit! And from their perspective, one cannot imagine why they wouldn’t want that. Although it’s still a fan theory, it goes quite deep!

In Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force, the story unfolds as an epic mythic tale that intertwines political complexity, supernatural elements, and a struggle for power. The conflict between King Yin Shou and Ji Fa propels the film, with both sides competing for the Fengshen Bang scroll, a mystical object that could shift the balance of destiny.
This struggle explores themes of vengeance, authority, and fate, creating a compelling narrative against a backdrop of societal turmoil. The film distinguishes itself by blending personal drama—Ji Fa’s internal conflicts and his connection with Deng Chanyu—with grand mythological storytelling.
The plot navigates its intricate narrative without overwhelming viewers. The film skillfully uses visual storytelling and concise dialogue to manage its complex character dynamics. Director Wuershan crafts an approach that makes the story accessible, even for audiences unfamiliar with the first film.

Spidey has already squared off with Butane, but if the newly released teaser below is any indication, we'll soon see the wall-crawler battle everyone from Speed-Demon to Scorpion, and perhaps even Doctor Octopus. It also looks like the hero will go one-on-one with the Man Without Fear, Daredevil.

Demon Slayer's demons are some of the most menacing villains in anime; but not one is more terrifying than Lord Muzan, the progenitor of demons himself. With thousands of kills over the thousand years he has been alive, it may seem like Muzan is virtually undefeatable, but one demon slayer could shatter Muzan's legacy in an instant.
Unfortunately, the one demon slayer who could easily obliterate Muzan died long before he got the chance. However, had this character become a demon too, he would not only have been stronger than Muzan could ever hope to be, but capable of taking down the evildoer once and for all.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni Could Have Been a Demon That Would Rival Muzan He Invented Breathing Styles and Was Considered the Strongest Demon Slayer to Ever Live
Ironically, no one would make a better demon than the heroic Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the first ever demon slayer.

Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most beloved Shōnen series in the anime industry. While Kamado Tanjiro's journey to restore his sister's humanity after his family's massacre is undeniably compelling, the series' action is its most captivating aspect. The flashy techniques employed by the Demon Slayers to vanquish demons have enthralled fans, with the Demon Slayers showcasing different fighting styles.
The various fighting styles in Demon Slayer are developed through the use of distinct Breathing Styles. These styles draw inspiration from natural elements like Water, Thunder, Sun, and others, which is vividly apparent when users employ them during attacks. However, according to an insight from the creator, Koyoharu Gotouge, these styles are not real but rather how they are perceived by others and in the imagination of the users.

After wrapping up the Red Gate arc, the anticipated third episode of Solo Leveling Season 2 has just revealed its story, teasing Jinwoo's next big mission. Although Jinwoo and fans were disappointed by his inability to recruit Baruka into his shadow army, the Shadow Monarch found a silver lining in gaining a new weapon, which became his most powerful weapon at the time. Still, it was ultimately overshadowed by the legendary weapon Jinwoo wields by the series’ end.

Iron Man has always led a complicated life, but his experiences in the alternate future of Avengers: Twilight complicated the circumstances of his death and afterlife, as well. After being confined to one of the most horrifying existences I can imagine, his head preserved and mined for ideas, Tony died to save the world – only to end up in alcohol-soaked Valhalla, never knowing what real peace feels like.
Avengers: Twilight – written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Daniel Acuña – was among the most tragic timelines I can recall in Avengers lore, but Tony bore the brunt of it. Anime has had another massively successful year, producing hit after hit that spawned endless excitement and brought countless new eyes to the art form. Following a 2023 that saw the industry generate record-breaking revenue, anime continued its momentum and seemingly unending rise in popularity in 2024. Some series continued long and celebrated runs with new seasons, while newcomers stepped onto the scene and took the anime world by storm.
A boost in accessibility was also felt throughout the year, as certain shows found their way onto popular platforms like Netflix and Hulu, delivering anime to viewers who might otherwise have never sought it out. To cap off the eventful year, a new poll was released by MyAnimeList, ranking the most popular series on their site. As it turns out, Solo Leveling took the top spot by a wide margin, while the rest of the list is predictably dominated by shōnen action and isekai.

He described it as delving into life and death with action and romance elements, while still being entertaining. Damien Leone's modern slasher threequel Terrifier 3 saw the delightfully demented Art the Clown continue his reign of terror in Miles County, but one major fantasy franchise could hold the key to stopping his murderous rampage once and for all. Terrifier 3's unprecedented box office success was one of the most surprising stories of the cinema industry in 2024, but despite expectations, Leone's demonic clown Art became an international phenomenon. Art's disturbing personal mix of sadism and silent comedy is made even more terrifying by his apparent immortality, as he's "died" multiple times, only to return even deadlier.
However, another major franchise may contain clues not only about the true nature of Art and his acolyte Vicky, but also about how to kill the clown permanently. Many iconic slashers have been effectively immortal, but none have had a nemesis like the unique Sienna Shaw, as Art does. Terrifier 3...

While Iron Man is a household name these days, thanks to his charismatic portrayal by Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he wasn't always the publisher's most popular character. Despite his charming personality, he was always a billionaire weapons manufacturer and war profiteer – but that all changed with one 1979 story arc: "Demon in a Bottle."
Occurring in The Invincible Iron Man (Volume 1) #120-128 – written by David Michelinie, with art by John Romita Jr. – "Demon in a Bottle" addressed the real-world ramifications of Tony Stark's cosmopolitan character portrayal, by asking how Tony could keep being Iron Man when otherwise he would be too drunk to drive.
As his friends and loved ones worried about him, Iron Man's most powerful enemy was revealed to be Tony Stark himself, in a story that fundamentally changed the character, and arguably Marvel Comics as a whole, forever.

Warning: Spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima, Episode #9Dragon Ball Daima has established the existence of a magical artifact known as the Evil Third Eye, which Gomah claims could make him many times more powerful. Gomah has no idea where this artifact is, however, but someone else in the series just might.
The Third Eye was first mentioned in the first episode of Daima by Gomah, who debated on using the Earth's Dragon Balls to wish for possession of the object before ultimately using the wish to turn Goku and friends into children. Gomah has come to regret that choice, now that Goku and his allies have infiltrated the Demon Realm, preferring he had the Evil Third Eye to deal with them. Dragon Ball Daima's adventure through the Demon Realm is well underway, and the new setting has largely restored the sense of wonder that once defined the franchise. Though the series has taken its sweet time building the world and those who inhabit it, the recent battle between Goku and Tamigami #3 proves the anime can still offer the action fans want from Dragon Ball. And now, on their way to the Second Demon World, Goku and company have gotten some backup in the form of Bulma, Piccolo, and Vegeta.
Team Goku and Team Vegeta finally cross paths in the most recent Episode #9, titled, "Thieves". The episode, though a bit of a slower affair than the previous few, introduces the series' all-new Majin Buu, aptly named Majin Kuu. And while it would make sense to have both Saiyans team up to fight the mysterious new Majin, Daima instead keeps them apart on separate journeys.

Night Rose is a demanding boss you face in Fortnite's Chapter 6, Season 1 if you want to get certain items that will grant an advantage over your opponents. Night Rose an important character in the game, known for her strength and mysterious background. Her design mixes elements of Japanese folklore and fantasy. The boss is pretty scary but worth the rewards from the long battle to beat her.
Beating bosses like Night Rose and Shogun X in Fortnite is important for progressing through the season's challenges and earning exclusive rewards. Since Night Rose can be found far on one end of the map, she's pretty easy to get to, so it's a good idea to defeat her first if you want to get the rewards she drops before facing other players. Warning: Contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima Episode #8Dragon Ball Daima spent the large majority of its opening episodes building up the awe-inspiring Demon Realm and establishing the franchise's ever-expanding cast. The series' all-new setting has captured the sense of wonder that defined Dragon Ball in its earliest sections, offering countless imaginative additions to the series, like Demon Dragon Balls, senzu-bugs, fearsome Tamigamis, and the best new character the series has seen in years. Although there are only nine current active Hashira, many other Demon Slayer characters deserve a spot in this respectable organization. With feats of strength and bravery, the Hashira are the primary group that has helped protect humanity from demons and trained the next generation of demon slayers to follow after them.
A handful of heroes in the story proved through their actions that they deserve to bear this title of Hashira as well. An ideal Hashira has a Breathing Style that they have achieved mastery over, a spirit of unshakable courage, and the willingness to pass their wisdom down to others. Although they never officially joined the Hashira, these characters embody these values so well, they would make perfect picks for the organization.

Some anime series take a while to ease into the action, ramping up gradually before the series' most exciting, heart-racing moments occur. Other popular shonen series, like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, for example, model this slow escalation, taking their time before portraying serious death, violence, and gore. The same cannot be said about Demon Slayer though. In the very first episode, aptly titled "Cruelty," I was caught off guard by the sheer brutality and sorrow that unfolded in the first few minutes alone.
The first episode of Demon Slayer was phenomenal at capturing my attention and immersing me in the story. Rather than introduce the characters in a lighthearted manner, episode one pulls no punches, thrusting viewers directly into the horrors to come in Demon Slayer's world that is plagued by violent and bloodthirsty creatures called demons.
