The Whale and Doom Patrol actor Brendan Fraser is ready to stand at attention while preparing to play Supreme Allied Commander Dwight Eisenhower in Pressure, an upcoming film from Working Title and Studiocanal. The intense war drama revolves around the world-altering events of D-Day and follows the lead-up to the Normandy landings.

Brendan Fraser joins Andrew Scott for Pressure, with Scott playing Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg. Stagg charted and reported weather patterns to Eisenhower. Weather plays a pivotal role in warfare, with conditions determining battlefield conditions, entry point availability, and more.

People in certain political circles celebrate General Eisenhower’s leadership during the conflict. His essential contribution to the war effort helped him secure the 34th U.S. President position, serving from 1953 to 61. Brendan Fraser has officially solidified his Hollywood comeback as a newly minted Oscar winner.

The “Whale” star won Best Actor at the 2023 Academy Awards for his turn as a reclusive English professor grappling with his obesity and will to live. Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, Hong Chau, and Samantha Morton also star in the Darren Aronofsky film. Samuel D. Hunter wrote the script based on his semi-autobiographical play of the same name.

Fraser beat out fellow nominees Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, Bill Nighy, and Paul Mescal to win the Best Actor Oscar.

With the film's star Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) already deep in preparation (e.g. taking helicopter lessons, scouting locations, etc.), it was only a matter of time before Universal's upcoming Monster Movie Universe launching pad - The Mummy - began to round out its cast and we've just received word of who may star opposite the 3x Academy Award-nominee. Variety is reporting that Annabelle Wallis is currently in talks to star opposite Cruise in the upcoming reboot of the 1932 classic. She'll portray an archaeologist, who it's probably safe to assume will play some part in resurrecting the film's titular villain, played by Kingsman: The Secret Service breakout star Sofia Boutella.  Details on the film's plot and Cruise's character are fairly scarce, but what we do know is that unlike the previous trilogy that starred Brendan Fraser (Behind The Curtain Of Night), this one will be set in present day.
