This long running tv show, based on a popular Chinese YA novel, can be seen at Netflix. It is filmed in the look and feel of Narnia covered in snow, but definitely Chinese in computer animation and candy colored, fluffy drama.
The main story is about two brothers, Ka Suo and Ying Kongshi, from the Ice Tribe. They are cursed with a predestined life cycle, and their story is sad, but luckily there is some comic relief too. Most episodes reminded me of Greek Mythology with struggling gods, demi gods and humans full of love, hate, friendship, betrayal. Especially the story of Kongshi, the younger brother, was interesting.
All in all it was thanks to the actors that I watched the show until the end. The brothers, the mother of Kongshi, and the fire princess were fun to watch.

I loved the show for what it was. They definitely invested most of their money in costumes. I enjoyed it but hate the way it ended so abruptly. Since IMDB doesn't show an end year, I wonder if there are more episodes somewhere else.

Quite riveting, except for the drawn-out "moments'. Makes you exclaim "ok, ok I got it can we move on?"
I know some people said the wigs were bad, I actually thought the whole costume and makeup was pretty nice. The only one I couldn't get past, and made me chuckle every time he would show up on the screen was the Fire King. He looks like if Wonder Woman and Jack Sparrow had a baby.
The other thing is the "memories". I swear, more than 1/3 of this series is "memories". I understand that it fills the episode time but I had already started to skip past at about episode 3.
Otherwise, nice series. Especially MMORPG players I bet enjoy it. Loved the idea, pretty much everything, characters are fully fleshed.
The end though seemed rushed.

Really good, couldn't stop binge watching it. I am disappointed that they stopped making it. Seemed like it ended abruptly ):

It is definitely fantasy. I loved it. I found the costumes and sets amazing. There was a wonderful attention to detail in the costumes. Yes there were holes in the plots but the actors were superb. The storyline was unusual. Very well made. Would highly recommend it. I watched every single episode.

Plus while Li Luo is supposed to be head over heals in Love with Ku Suo her face always looks like she hates him in real life. Plus the 1 million plot holes.. but still better than I thought

OK, I have a fascination with long hair on guys, so this show grabbed my attention with the thumbnail on Netflix.
The story is High Fantasy with a totally Chinese twist to it. Yes, the ending was annoying on some levels, but they did a second season called Ice Fantasy Destiny which is also quite amusing, although not exactly picking up where this one left off.
As to the ears, well, elves are very popular the world over and rather than the characters being normal mortals, the ears and the hair are a visual cue that what lies ahead is not your average oriental historical fantasy.
I completely love the production and for anyone who has an interest in Chinese fantasy productions, this one twists and turns and surprises one all over the place while telling a story of family complications.

I watched this from the beginning to the end and found it extremely entertaining. Although few in the US have had the pleasure of doing the same, I think that you will be quite please with your time spent watching this fantasy from one end to the other, too. I like it so much that I will be watching it again, because only the Asias can give fantasy the special effects, beauty, and showmanship it deserves, plus the drama, mystery and action of it all! My actual regret is that there are no more episodes to it.
So pull up a seat and spend a weekend with your most serious side of drama, bowls of popcorn, you're bunny bone and of course a box of Kleenex, and enjoy watching this series the way it deserves to be consumed.

ICE FANTASY (Huànchéng) (2016) is a great epic fantasy C-drama revolving around Prince Ka Suo of the Ice Tribe and the events that take place after his coming of age ceremony. Along with his younger brother Ying Kong Shi, Ka Suo is forced to flee his kingdom and go into hiding in order to protect those he loves. They both embark on a quest to save the realms from the Fire Tribe, and get help from the Mortal Realms guardian named Li Luo, who devotes herself in service to Prince Ka Suo. They seek to obtain ice crystals from six tribes in order to restore the Ice Wall, so that the Ice Tribe can be saved and Fire Tribe repelled.
Although this story is filled with fantastical realms, characters and creatures, epic storylines, adventure and drama, gorgeous costumes and music, it also revolves around the deep love and loyalty that two brothers share. I find this fact to be very pivotal and moving. Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi go on an adventure to save the Immortal and Mortal Realms and restore the Ice Tribe. I loved so many characters in this series. They all grow on you and gradually become more complex.
The only reason I'm rating it 8 stars is mainly because of some occasional cheesiness (mostly because of the overacting of the Fire King) and because it wasn't the absolute best C-drama series I've watched. It was very good though. No regrets. This series was over all really good, the visuals, costumes and realms were really stunning. I really enjoyed this drama, and so many of the characters, such as Ka Suo, Ying Kong Shi, Li Luo, Yan Da etc. This series features some really strong female heroines and villains. Love. Overall it was a great watch.

One of my favourite dramas just because is unique, the story, the costumes, the colour all is out of the world a real fantasy. The plots keep you engage and you finish loving the brothers and Wanda story that l think they add and is not from the books for what l read. That means even the screenwriters where good enough to keep and interesting plot going on. Is a shame the second season is so bad you can see the difference in the writers a lot more loose and not following what makes the 1st season great.
