"Selleck is spending his lockdown on his 63-acre working ranch in Ventura County, Calif., and the good news for Jesse Stone fans is it is giving him time to write the next installment of movies based on character created by Robert B. Parker, which already has a deal at Hallmark for No. 10."

In May of 2024, in an interview with PARADE magazine, Selleck had the following exchange with the interviewer:
Interviewer: Now that Blue Bloods is ending, is there any possibility Jesse Stone might be resurrected? You had talked about doing it before, but you didn't have time.
Selleck: If Blue Bloods doesn't get uncanceled, there is room for a Jesse Stone because I've written them, as you know. I love Jesse. And he'd be different. He's older. It's been a while since the last one. That's a fun thing to deal with.
