I saw this film first for Sandrine Bonnaire. And, indeed, she gives a beautiful performance. The theme is very delicate and the basic virtue of film is to use it in decent, gentle manner. It is a subject real sensitive because - the character of Bonnaire reminds this - it is an universal problem in so many dictatorships. Sure, the exploration could be more profound , few situations are unrealistic, other less convincing. But it is an useful film.
