Mindy Kaling’s upcoming Netflix comedy series set in the world of pro basketball has added three new cast members, Variety has learned.

Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver are all joining the show alongside previously announced series lead Kate Hudson. The untitled series received a 10-episode order at Netflix in June 2021.

The official logline states, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

Two-time Emmy-nominated Veep actor Matt Walsh and Isla Fisher are set to star in Unplugging, a new comedy Walsh co-wrote with Brad Morris (Cougar Town). The pic will mark the directorial debut of editor Debra Neil-Fisher.

Both Walsh and Morris will produce alongside Deborah Liebling, Stephanie Laing, and Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel for The Traveling Picture Show Company.

Radiant Films International will handle foreign sales and introduce to buyers at Cannes. Gersh and UTA Independent will co-represent domestic sales.

NBCUniversal is ready to bring some more comedy to your digital screens. The broadcast network has set January 7, 2016 as the official release date of its ad-free, comedy streaming subscription service SeeSo.

SeeSo will be available at seeso.com and on iOS and Android devices, with NBC planning to add more platforms in the coming months. Several original series and specials will be available at the time of SeeSo’s launch, including the animated comedy The Cyanide & Happiness Show (brought to you by the Streamy Award-winning team behind the Cyanide & Happiness YouTube channel and its more than five million subscribers) , the Matt Besser special Besser Breaks the Record, and the Amy Poehler-hosted variety sketch show The Ucb Show. NBC has a way for potential subscribers to test out its recently-announced comedy streaming service SeeSo. The broadcast television network will launch a month-long, free beta so users can experience the subscription-based comedic entertainment platform before they consider signing up for $3.99 per month.

The SeeSo beta program will allow participants to get a sneak peek of the ad-free service’s stand-up comedy sessions, classic television shows, curated films, and several of its new, original series. For example, SeeSo beta users will be able to watch the platform’s upcoming The Cyanide & Happiness Show, based on the popular Streamy Award-winning web comic of the same name, or the previously-announced The Ucb Show with Amy Poehler. NBC noted back in October 2015 that SeeSo’s beta, which officially begins on December 3, will be a private program open to select participants.

Commissioned by the ABC, the first live-action prime time series from Sticky Pictures centres on two mismatched housemates: Sammy J, a hopeless, down-and-out lawyer who, six years into his legal career, is yet to win a case, and Randy, a cheating, gambling, drinking divorcee who happens to be a purple puppet.
