- TriviaTwo of the sequences were inspired by true events. When co-writer/producer and director, Tom Greene was a child he lived right behind the Van Nuys Drive-In, and his parents, who were from New York, had heard that you could go to the drive-in wearing your pajamas. So his entire family went in PJ's, much to their embarrassment at the Drive-In refreshment stand during intermission. The "Runamuk" sequence was shot at the same Drive-In, not long before it was torn down. And as in the sequence, they did indeed forget where their car was when the lights went down for the second feature. The Drive-In actually put on the marquee: "Matinee Today - Half Price". Amazingly, during the shooting of that sequence, cars started to line up outside the entrance to get in.
