The original press release published by The Hollywood Reporter went viral within hours of its publication when it was cited that Vivica A. Fox would be portraying the first cinematic African-American Female President.
Originally conceived as a Cronenberg-type thriller set on Earth, the storyline expanded when writer Robert Thompson was brought onboard to flesh out the plot.
The character "Dr. Bay" is named after Director Michael Bay.
Style and tone is an intentional throwback to 1980's and 1990's Science Fiction and Action films such as Robocop, Split Second, Hardware, Predator, Con Air, and many more classics from the era.
There are numerous character name and other references to films and other works from the 1980's, including but not limited to "President Henricksen" being named for "Aliens" actor Lance Henricksen, "Miller" being named for graphic novel artist and writer Frank Miller, and "Weathers" being named for actor Carl Weathers.
