Hilos de amor (or Mariana and Scarlett) is a very enjoyable and engaging Columbian telenovela built around the dynamic that develops between Roberto White, millionaire owner of White Textiles, aspiring fashion designer Mariana, and her would-be fashion model sister, Scarlett. The drama develops from cases of hidden identities, false accusations, faces from the past, and loves lost and unrequited, to the wonderfully devious, complex and long-running plotting machinations of Lina Duran and her quest for corporate, financial and romantic conquest. Adding to the fun of Lina's never ending scheme is that she is often aided by the marvellously comic fashion designer, Tony, and even a vengeful Marxist intent on bringing down the White family for past wrongs! Like all good soaps/telenovelas, the saga runs through various human and romantic dramas, but the protracted and complicated relationship between Roberto and Mariana is actually often very poignant. All in all, Hilos de amor is never dull and it is certainly more fun than Eastenders!
