This Star Wars article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian.
No, your eyes weren’t deceiving you while watching “The Foundling,” Chapter 20 of The Mandalorian. That is indeed a Star Wars character and actor you’ve seen before and not just in the ways you might think. The actor who plays Grogu’s savior in the Order 66 flashback doesn’t need any introduction: it’s Ahmed Best, who is best known to Star Wars fans as the performer behind Jar Jar Binks. But that isn’t a Gungan saving a defenseless Baby Yoda from the clone troopers who are after him. It’s Jedi Master Kelleran Beq who has his own surprising Star Wars legacy that goes beyond the Mandoverse.
You see, Kelleran’s first appearance in Star Wars wasn’t in a movie, another scripted TV series, or in the pages of the books and comics. Kelleran was actually Best...

This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of The Mandalorian.
The new episode of "The Mandalorian" — Chapter 20 - The Foundling — brought a character into the official canon that many of us never expected to see. Kelleran Beq was first introduced in "Star Wars" for a YouTube show called "The Jedi Temple Challenge." This show was a love letter to the obstacle course shows of Nickelodeon from the '80s and '90s, like "Double Dare" and "Legends of the Hidden Temple." Ahmed Best (who portrayed Jar Jar Binks in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy and in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars") hosted the show in character as a Jedi Knight named Kelleran Beq, and it was his job to train Jedi younglings. The show itself followed his lead as a teacher. His character was nicknamed "The Sabered Hand" and he was renowned for his skills. More than that, he...

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters,“ the fondly remembered Nickelodeon animated series that aired from 1994 through 1997.
Every Nickelodeon fanatic has their period where they thought the network really hit their stride. For me, 1994 was their real peak of pure kids entertainment. It was a time where they’d tapped into a wonderful momentum with programming blocks like Saturday Night’s Snick, weekday morning’s Nick Jr., and excellent series like “Rugrats,” “All That,” “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” “The Secret World of Alex Mack,” and a whole lot more.
It was also the year that “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” premiered.
Debuting officially on October 30th, 1994, the program was another of the many Klasky-Csupo produced animated shows that had dominated the airwaves for most of the Nickelodeon golden age. Breaking in to their tendency to spotlight the lesser explored corners of our society, “Aaahh!!! Real...

For audiences who grew up in the '90s and 2000s, Nickelodeon is primarily known for its animated shows, like SpongeBob SquarePants and Hey Arnold! and its scripted live-action shows, such as The Amanda Show, All That, and Kenan & Kel. However, the channel has also aired a number of game shows over the years.

The Flash and Riverdale are the last shows back, returning Tuesday, November 16, for what the network describes as five-episode fall events.

Nancy Drew, which is relocating to Fridays, will return Friday, October 8.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman move to Wednesdays when they debut their new seasons Wednesday, October 13.
Both shows are currently airing Sundays.

It’s Halloween night, and the thing that most terrifies teenage misfit Kelly Ferguson (Tamara Smart) is making it through the popular kids’ party without being called “Monster Girl.” After the ill-advised choice to tell her peers about a traumatic incident of almost getting snatched by a monster as a child, the unfortunate nickname has stuck and tanked all hope of ever joining the in-crowd. It’s useful, then, that her mother (Crystal Balint) promised Kelly’s babysitting services to her ice queen boss Ms. Zellman (Tamsen McDonough) and her problem child Jacob (Ian Ho). But when that adorable child gets snatched by the same otherworldly creature that once haunted Kelly, the hapless caretaker is thrown into a secret underworld and gets her first lesson in A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting.

Newly launched Capacitor Studios is fast-tracking development of a television/streaming series with Cosmic Kids, the YouTube channel whose yoga and meditation exercises have become exceedingly popular with parents of small children during the coronavirus-induced lockdown.
Variety has learned that the new project, a mix of live action and animation, will “take kids on exciting yoga adventures and help them overcome challenges through movement and mindfulness.” Cosmic Kids Yoga creator and host Jaime Amor will anchor the series alongside animated characters and an interactive set.
The eight-year-old brand’s YouTube views now top 30 million a month, on average, and have brought in 250,000 new monthly subscribers amid the ongoing pandemic that has sent parents scrambling to find ways to keep their kids active and entertained while schools remain closed. The channel’s videos currently include yoga sessions inspired by “Frozen,” “Moana,” “Harry Potter,” “Star Wars,” and more.

As Quibi readies itself for launch on April 6, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s mobile short-form streaming service has just opened a casting call soliciting participants for its revival of “Legends of the Hidden Temple.” The ’90s cult-classic game show series sent players on the hunt for hidden treasures protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards, ensconced in all manner of obstacles.
From the Quibi announcement: “Once again, the gate to Olmec’s Hidden Temple is about to open, and Doron Ofir Casting is thrilled to announce that for a select few contestants, the journey begins anew. We’re calling for brave seekers and fearless competitors to descend the Steps of Knowledge, race through Olmec’s Temple, avoid the dreaded Temple Guards, and put their knowledge and fortitude to the test in the adventure of a lifetime!”

Quibi is perfect for all of us who can't seem to find the time to watch a full-length TV show. The streaming service, which launches April 6, will offer "quick bites" of content, hence its name. The episodes are all 10 minutes and can only be streamed from your phone - for the low price of $5 to $8 per month. The platform's founder Jeffrey Katzenberg recently told Vulture that the plan is to spend over $1 billion on fresh content within the first year, and he's clearly not messing around, considering the platform already has dozens of original shows slated to stream once Quibi is available. Big-name stars like Sophie Turner, Demi Lovato, and Chance the Rapper will have shows of their own. For the more than 70 other shows streaming on Quibi, keep reading.

Quibi’s April 6 launch is inching closer, and the mobile short-form streaming service made an aggressive sales pitch Wednesday morning at CES in Las Vegas.
The upcoming platform, created by longtime Hollywood and Silicon Valley power players Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, has raised plenty of eyebrows since its unveiling in 2018, and not just because the streaming service will only work on mobile devices. Episodes of each Quibi series will run under 10 minutes, and the platform, short for “quick bites,” has tapped a dizzying array of high-profile actors, content creators, and major companies to create or invest in the service. Katzenberg and Whitman told CES attendees during a keynote that the service will release roughly 175 series within its first year, which they say would equate to around three hours of new content every day. The service has already attracted $1.4 billion in investments, including from Disney and other studios

The ’90s continue to take over pop culture as Quibi revealed today that they are reimagining Nickelodeon’s iconic game show Legends of the Hidden Temple.
From the Shrine of the Silver Monkey to scary Temple Guards, Quibi has set a revival of the kids game show from the ’90s that included teams competing against one another to retrieve “historical artifacts” in a Mayan-themed temple by performing physical challenges and asking trivia questions.
The new iteration will be bigger and better as they take some of the original elements of the show and set them in a scaled-up jungle setting with tougher challenges. This includes the Moat Crossing, the iconic Temple Run and, of course, the talking Olmec statue.
Legends of the Hidden Temple is produced by Nickelodeon and Stone & Company Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Scott A. Stone, one of the original creators. Quibi is set to...

The show, which was aimed at kid’s during its glory days, is now being revamped to appeal to adults. “Hidden Temple” will still preserve several of its trademark features from the original show, however, including the Moat Crossing, Olmec and the Temple Run.
Instead of being filmed at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida, Quibi is bringing the show to an undisclosed jungle location. The challenges and the prizes are both bigger this time around as well, according to Quibi.

As Nickelodeon turns 40, the kids’ network is finding ways to rely on its past as it presses boldly into the future.
“My goal is to fill up every screen of every size to make Nick kids’ first and last stop for everything they want in entertainment,” says Nickelodeon Group president Brian Robbins, who succeeded long-time Nick veteran Cyma Zarghami last year in Viacom CEO Bob Bakish’s reorganization of the media conglomerate. “There’s no doubt kids are consuming a ton of content in many different ways,” he says. “The good news is we live in a world where brands still matter, and Nick is absolutely a giant brand that still matters.”

The groundbreaking kids sketch comedy show is returning to Nickelodeon. We have details on the All That revival...

Nickelodeon will revive the program — a “Saturday Night Live” for the tween set — with an all-new cast. But the show will have callbacks to its past as well. Kenan Thompson, the long-running “SNL” cast member who got his start on television when “All That” launched in 1994, will serve as an executive producer. Nickelodeon expects some former cast members to make appearances in the series.
The sketch comedy show “stayed in the zeitgeist for many years,” Brian Robbins, president of Nickelodeon, tells Variety. “People are really fond of it.” One regular sketch, “Good Burger,” was set in a fast-food restaurant with a clueless cashier, and served up the premise for an...
