The administration building they used is the same building from the 1996-Bio Dome movie.
At one point a giraffe hand puppet can clearly be seen biting one of the interns. This puppet was operated by Matthew Lillard who was invited to set by director and close friend Glenn Miller.
Screenwriter Scotty Mullen cited Jurassic Park (1993), The Birds (1963), and Zombeavers (2014) as inspiration for the films. In a 2012 interview with Fangoria Mullen stated "I liked what Jurassic Park was trying to do, but I felt there wasn't enough CGI elephants"
