By the time of this episode, only three voice actors of Mobile Suit Gundam (1979), has retained their roles. They are Shûichi Ikeda as Char Aznable, Banjô Ginga as Gihren Zabi and starting from this episode, Tôru Furuya as Amuro Ray.

A cargo ship with the Zimmad logo flies by during the opening narration. Zimmad is one of three private firms that manufactures weapons for the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. Their most notable products are the mobile suits MS-09 Dom, MSM-03 Gogg, and YMS-15 Gyan.
