It was canceled after Season 3 because of the Netflix and CBC breakup, despite being successful and high ratings. Fans of the show launched a campaign on Twitter to get Netflix to renew the series. The hashtag #RenewAnnewithanE has been used over one million times since the show's cancellation. Producers tried to make a 4th season with another network or make a movie for the ending, but they couldn't do so.
Canadian fans disliked the US promotional poster, which featured a retouched version of Amybeth McNulty. Her eyes and teeth were made slightly brighter to stand out more, her freckles were reduced, her hair was somewhat redone, and the shadows under her eyes were removed.
